I was captivated by the sound that followed, a strange and beautiful mix, and I tried to remember the name but I always forgot it whenever I went to search for it later. This went on for a while, until I finally memorized the name: Daniel Grau.

The man, Daniel Grau Sosa (December 28, 1948 – January 5, 2021), was a Venezuelan composer who was very active in electronic and dance music. He worked with people like Gerd Janson and Psychemagik. They call him a pioneer of jazzanova, which is like a fusion of bossanova, disco, and jazz—something smooth that still makes you tap your feet. That's why they called him "the Venezuelan Giorgio Moroder." He died in 2021, at 72 years old, but his music remains.

But this particular song... I don't know what it has. It reaches a place in me that's hard to explain. la primera vez que escuche esta cancion fue de pura suerte, sintonizando una radio internacional creo que de oceania. el locutor hablo de "psicodelico venezolano" y dijo el nombre de Daniel Grau. me quede pegado con el sonido que salio despues, una mezcla rara y bonita, y trate de acordarme del nombre pero siempre se me olvidaba cuando queria buscarla. fue asi un buen tiempo, hasta que por fin me aprendi el nombre: Daniel Grau.

El tipo, Daniel Grau Sosa (28 de diciembre de 1948 – 5 de enero de 2021), fue un compositor venezolano que se movio mucho en la musica electronica y de baile. trabajo con gente como gerd janson y psychemagik. lo llaman pionero del jazzanova, que es como una fusion de bossanova, disco y jazz, algo suave pero que te hace mover los pies. por eso le decian "el giorgio moroder venezolano". murio en el 2021, a los 72 anos, pero su musica queda.

Pero esta cancion en particular... no se que tiene. a mi me llega a un lugar que es dificil de explicar. es la musica que suena cuando por fin superas un amor que te dolio o cuando sale el sol despues de una temporada gris en tu cabeza. la cancion casi no tiene letra, pero no le hace falta. es puro sentimiento, llevado por esos sintetizadores que son como olas calidas. es como ver que tus ojos vuelven a brillar, como salir de un hueco oscuro y encontrarte con una manana que no solo tiene luz, sino que parece que la luz es alegria pura. es ese instante en que el peso se va y solo queda respirar aliviado.

Quizas Daniel Grau no la escribio pensando en eso, pero para mi eso es. es como si la cancion te abrazara y te susurrara: "ya paso, tranquilo, respira, sonrie y sigue". no es solo un tema musical, es un recordatorio de que despues de lo malo siempre puede venir algo bueno, de que hay un nuevo dia esperandote. esa es la magia que tiene para mi, una promesa sin palabras de que siempre puede amanecer de nuevo. por eso la guardo, porque a veces necesitas que te recuerden eso, y Daniel Grau lo hace sin decir casi nada, solo con esa melodia que lo dice todo.
