The Music Apprentice

Intro

Hello, my nickname is Suso. And I've been dedicated to studying music since I was young.

I live in Barinas, Venezuela. It's the plains of Venezuela, a place where there's a lot of folk music from this country. So we could say there's a kind of vibe here regarding music.

A few days ago, I was telling a friend that music is everywhere. And that even if I find myself in a moment where I perceive that everything has gone, where there's nothing left, somehow the only thing that remains is the sounds... and what you can create with it, music.

Probably something that makes it so ancient is that even if you're in a cave, you can make music.

The Varied Music Event

In this place where I live, there are many communities. But the ones who enjoy live events the most are the bikers. A community of motorcyclists who like to travel on their bikes and arrive at a place where they can enjoy a concert.

I have participated in some as a musician. It's been great.

A few days ago, I met the person in charge of organizing those events. They were creating an event with good sound but with a more private vibe. Something more local.

I hadn't seen an event like this here in years. So somehow or another, something inspired all of this. Out of curiosity, I start to investigate more. I discovered that the son wanted to get on stage for the first time.

How Was This Event?

The stage was very good. The sound was quite good.

It had a rock and tattoos theme, yet they played various genres. Which is great. There was Ska, alternative music, ambient, groove, and progressive.

The host, I think, was the best host we could have had at an event. He knew what to say when to say it, and how to say it.

The food at the venue was also quite good, and the venue itself is quite comfortable.

We had everything to have a good time. I met some very good bands.

Greeting People

It was back in 2018 when I was in a musical project, with quite good musicians. I hadn't realized that until recently. Well, many people approached me just to recognize me and tell me how much they liked that project I was in.

That impressed me. I honestly wasn't aware that local people would remember that project so much. It's like when you make a post, you have no idea that someone is really reading what you write. And maybe if you stop writing, someone will miss seeing your content. Because in one way or another, you are creating something original, with identity. And that only you can do. If you stop doing it, well, there won't be any more of that style.

Original Content Created for an Audience

All this experience made me more aware of what it means to create original content. Whether it's in music or any other area. What you create and share really reaches people. And perhaps many of them find value in what they read and hear from you. What you share with them.

As long as you're sharing something for an audience and not just for your own consumption.

If I Participated in This Event

Truth is, I was locked up at home. I don't go out much. But the reason I participated in this event was because the organizer's son is a drummer and didn't have any available guitarists who could play the riffs he wanted.

That's when a friend of mine messaged me asking if I was available. I inquired about the event and everything related to it. Then I accepted the gig.

The experience was interesting. The kid is just a beginner, but he already has all the contacts thanks to his father, who is a professional Latin percussionist and the one who organizes and creates all these quite good events.

Remembering How It's Done

I still got the touch even though it's been a long time since I participated in events. I managed to bring out and polish techniques in the process. So, I've been inspired to continue honing my skills both on acoustic and electric guitar.

Then, I'll create a resume and virtual portfolio. Regarding myself as a guitarist. And so, I'll start dedicating myself to working in this field.

I plan to document the entire process of getting back into practice. Everything I'm learning musically and my perspective on how I've been progressing.

It will help me stay on track. And also, I'll share with all of you the process of preparing myself again to achieve something I want.

This is amazing. I have not participated nor attended a music concert in a long time, and I am seriously longing for one. The only thing is that I have not really got time for myself these days.
