Beyond Doubt (2).jpg

Welcome to my seemingly endless journey.
A trip that will take you to places I might have visited many moons ago.
It´s a tale that came back to me when I meditated on one of my past lives. A life I told you about in my unbelievable true story.

As promised in that story I will now share this story with you.

Chapter 79

Dear Reader, Who can you trust when you have a lot to lose?

"As long as you win you have friends, rows, and rows of real friends."

But who can you really rely on and be one thousand percent sure that their advice is not only good for their own wallets?

Always be mindful of the fact that there are three sides to every story reader and your family and friends may have as many faces and dual agendas.

Or do you truly believe that the warm nest you came from will always be there for you to fall back on?

Reiko inhales deeply. “Sorry I digress, this paper gives the immediate commander the right to use whatever means he deems necessary to subjugate the area. The fact that no report needs to be made says it all."

"As long as there is no proof that there is permission from above, the council can always blame the lower ranks. They will never punish them for their mistakes, because it suits the council. She reaches her goal faster and keeps her hands clean, the bastards.”

“What is their interest in all this violence? They are not involved themselves, so why the atrocities?” It didn't make sense to me, who wants to condone such actions?

“It's simple, every conquest makes money, money for the Sikh and for those who accomplished the conquest. From the soldier to the responsible general. The Sikh won't care what he earns, I don't even know if the man uses money. The generals and highest officers do, they live like gods."

"They surround themselves with splendor and beauty to show their fame and prosperity to society. Many of them are obsessed with power and wealth. Our faith considers this life to be the only life, only the Sikh has the divine power to return after death."

"The certainty that this is the only life drives their greed to ridiculous proportions, in which they do not want to be inferior to each other. It is in their interest and in the interest of all troops under their command to earn as much money as possible as quickly as possible."

"A human life costs nothing and has no value to them. I'm afraid the Sikh is not even aware of the existence of the Sharido and even less aware of the cruelties they use. But he will never wonder either. He is completely isolated, even though he doesn't think so.”

"Everyone who meets the Sikh has been told in advance what he is allowed to say and what not. Everyone praises him, praises his divinity, his immense empire, and his power to govern. The man believes that he controls the world and no one has ever told him otherwise."

"No one will probably ever tell him otherwise unless you miraculously get through to him, literally and figuratively," I conclude.

By now everyone was awake and listening attentively to Reiko's story. When he fell silent there was a long silence. Until Numico couldn't resist any longer; “Cabilah did you try to seduce Reiko?”

Everyone except Retsj couldn't mask a smile, and even though we didn't see it, there must have been a sense of shame somewhere. She looked sternly at the boy. “Numico you are far too wise for your age, and you should know better than to ask a lady such questions.”

“If I knew a lady, I wouldn't ask her,” Numico responded quickly.

“It was more that during my interrogation I got the feeling that I was very much in a corner. I also understood that we would probably not survive the message from the messenger, Rash does not look at one or more lives. It therefore seemed logical to me to make myself useful. I was gentle. Indicated that I was only allowed to come along to cook, wash, and do other women's work."

"That in combination with a sweet voice and a silly smile makes me quite innocent. You must be able to agree with that, Numico," Cabilah jokes.
"But this gentleman," she nodded to Reiko, "thought it necessary to warn me and chain me to my ankle so that I could perform all the tasks without the freedom to do more than that.

"Nice try, I thought, there went my chances. Although I did notice the way he looked at me. Even though the soldiers I served were dirty dogs, I saw in Reiko something softer than the rest. Something that unintentionally attracted me. I sought out his company more and more often. Not just because it kept me safe from the grabbing of my cleavage and the slaps on my ass. I felt something familiar when I was near him."

"And yes, when he started caressing me during the second night after some drinks, I didn't push his hand away. But as fate would have it, before this got out of hand, we were talking about our youth. Thank the gods, otherwise, I might have shared a bed with my own brother. Or at least an unfamiliar kiss."

"His story was so similar to mine that I started asking for details. After all, it was possible that his village could be in the same region, right? Then he mentioned the name of his family and the village he came from. The blood went hard in my veins and every hair on my body stood on end."

"This had to be a sick joke.
I told him he was lying. "

"That he somehow had extracted information and was now playing with my emotions to get me on his side. Or drive me insane."
