What If (1).jpg

Thank God its #NinetiesFriday!

Bob D said it right when he sang .... the times they are changing.

The more I look back at those lovely nineties the more I notice ch,ch,ch,ch,changes.

Last week I talked about the rap scene changing:

π‘»π’“π’šπ’Šπ’π’ˆ 𝑻𝒐 π‘Ήπ’†π’Žπ’†π’Žπ’ƒπ’†π’“ 𝑻𝒉𝒆 90𝒔 - White Guys CanΒ΄t Jump but can they Rap?

Then I realized another long time trend changed in the nineties.

The trend is your friend until the end, and that end came when the nineties ended.

What Are You Talking About

The end of the real Boob-Comedies, they were big in the eighties with classics like Porky (I, II, III) and Revenge of the Nerds (I, II, III).

Naughty, naughty films they were. But looking back what I see mostly is how they were very much Boob oriented. When the more I looked, the more Baywatch Boobs I saw.

Because Baywatch lifted those naughty, naughty 90s boobs into the nineties, and took them to another level but the titty focus was a sign of the times....and there also was a visionary.

More about that later letΒ΄s first have a quick look at the true end of the Boob Commedy era.

They gave it a try with Ski School in 1990:

And really the Nerdiness just did not work as good a third time:

But it all really went downhill in 1992 when Basic Instinct moved the focus point below the breastline.

Things got so sophisticated even the naughty naughty things.

Or just really really cheap, but it remained titty focussed.

Till the visionary came and told us where the future would focus on. He knew that the focus would shift and the girls in the intro...well they probably wished they did:

Of course, I could keep it at that, but I want more. I always want more. Because that is how we were doing it and as always LL Cool J did it first.

What Drove Butts in First Position

Nowadays when I scroll through whatever place girls show their goods, the focus is so much more on the butt. So Sharon Stone tried to put the beaver focus there but Sir Mix Alot won the battle.

The nineties marked the end of one era and the start of another that did not focus on the physical front of a girl, but more on what is behind her appearance.

And Phat Beach showed initial hints of that cross-over point.

But okay there must be more to it than just a rapper talking about big butts to make girls turn around and show what junk they have in the trunk instead of their bra.

So what might have caused this revolution?

I Blame Beyonce

Yes, I blame Beyonce for the revolution, but not in a bad way. Still, itΒ΄s her fault as She is Queen B and we all know that B is for Butt.

In the 1990s, mainstream media heavily emphasized a specific body ideal that featured larger breasts and a slimmer figure.

But in the late Β΄90s that media landscape had shifted, partly due to the rise of social media, which allowed for more diverse representations of beauty.

Influences from hip-hop culture and celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, and BeyoncΓ© became household names.

We saw that same cultural shift as last week when the white rappers emerged. The early nineties 1990s were still dominated by Western beauty ideals, which often favored lighter skin, slim figures, and larger breasts. A standard that dominated for decades.

The late nineties saw a shift. It started a renewed celebration of cultural and racial diversity, leading to a broader acceptance of different body types and features.

The emphasis on the buttocks can be linked to the influence of African, Latin, and Afro-Caribbean cultures, where curvier figures and fuller hips and buttocks have traditionally been admired.

The diversity led the way for the body positivity movement, which gained significant traction in the 2010s. It encouraged the acceptance of various body shapes and sizes.

This movement challenged traditional nineties and pre-Β΄90s beauty standards and celebrated features like curves, leading to a cultural shift where fuller figures and prominent buttocks nowadays are embraced.

BΒ΄s In Fashion

The chicken or the egg, did the fashion create the beauty standard or did the beauty standard determine the fashion?

Fashion in the 1990s, especially with the popularity of low-rise jeans, tight tops, and push-up bras, often accentuated the breasts.

The "heroin chic" look popularized by models like Kate Moss was characterized by a slim, androgynous figure with a focus on the upper body.

lkVX9TwrCV8bQOaHoScp--1--lcyxv.jpg

That changed after the nineties with trends such as high-waisted jeans, bodycon dresses, and athleisure, often emphasizing the waist-to-hip ratio and the buttocks.

KzbfVcHYMEPJPZWXiO0n--1--434h4 (1).jpg

It got even better when they introduced shapewear and fitness trends as both played a role in highlighting and enhancing the buttocks, making it a focal point of contemporary fashion.

Because in the early nineties we thoughts that butt is just so fat itΒ΄s just so out there and we witnessed our little white butts back in shape.

1990s fitness focused on cardio workouts and maintaining a slim figure, with less emphasis on muscle building or lower body strength.

The times they are changing and so are the fitness trends. Now there is a much greater emphasis on strength training, particularly exercises that target the glutes and lower body, such as squats and lunges.

This has contributed to the cultural shift towards valuing and emphasizing well-defined, muscular buttocks.

Bikini Butt Line

Those who read me frequently probably noticed that I am all about the base and body positivity. I use curvy where I can ainΒ΄t gonna lie.
If it has no curves it does not make me fly

I thought I Was A Wigga But I was Just early

Back in the nineties I liked big butts and I did not lie and all my white friends went like why the hell do you date girls with a dump truck behind?

A few years later...Pixar:

I thought I was a Wigger at least when it came to my taste in girls.

Seems I was just early, I was body-positive before it was even invented. I saw Sir Mix Alot and went like, thank you lord for sending the Messiah.

And I thank the Nineties for initiating the momentum, for really looking as a women as it she was meant to be looked at.

Not starting in the titties instead of the eyes, but staring in her eyes and then twisting your neck when she walks by.

And donΒ΄t feel bad about it, itΒ΄s the natural thing to do and we finally can admit to prefer a butt above the tit.

Thank goodness you made it till the end Pees, Love and I am out of here!

WTF do I do on #NinetiesFriday?

Well, don't do what I do because I just stole the below as it is good enough for copy/pasta!

But some ideas are music, movies, television, sports, or really anything Nineties related.

I assume movie, tv, or music topic reviews or talk will be most common, but you could also talk about a sports memory or something else.

Think the Pop Culture of the times, but it would be great to hear about little known and interesting bands or entertainment items. Don’t forget to use tag #NinetiesFriday

@geneeverett will give 3 basic income units to a winning random post every week that uses the #NinetiesFriday tag. Also @thebighigg has jumped in to match for 6 total weekly prizes! If anyone else wants to sponsor with 1 unit let me know or just send if you don’t wanna commit to weekly πŸ‘

All images by MyI and AI except for the stolen #NinetiesFriday image of course.

I was not noticing how much things have changed since the 90s. The Sharon stone scene is a classic, was Jerry Springer around in the 90s or that started later?

I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project! Check out our Reading Suggestions posts!

OMG Jerry, Jerry, Jerry the Lord Ringmaster was so 90s, starting in 1991 and life would never be the same again. Guess he will need to make an appearance next week!

Thanks for picking the #ninetiesFriday to give it a little more exposure!

Wow very profound article. I most say I somewhat agree with your theory.
I remember that episode of Family Guy when Quagmier was a dance exercise guy, similar to Flashdance movie, and someone complained all their asses were so flat back then, that was so funny but true.
Now I'm an ass guy, but even I have to say it has gotten a bit out of hand as some women has gone overboard with the way they have shaped their bodies to look like ducks. I'm sure there is a word for that kind of body, but have no idea.
Personally I prefer the old skinny type, like Toney Braxton, Lauryn Hill, natural ass and less of the today's Nikky Minaj type.

Ghetto booty's...is that the word?

Everything that gets popular gets out of hand...just look at some of those lips nowadays.

But I appreciate that you see there is a bit more to my article than just T&A as I did try to make a point
