RockClassics Edition #52 - I am still here

avatar

First post since October

I am sad i could not contribute a lot based on busy times in general and also certain issues here but I want to keep my music-community going and my tags around music i do since 2017 here.

So music folks - here another edition of #RockClassics - what did I discover that i did not handle yet? Just covered all the great bands already but sometimes you miss things. Hope my buddies @alexvan and @detlev will keep using the tag ideally by posting in the @music-community :-).

Rock on with Boston!

It seems i really did not cover them, good old rock from the 70ies/80ies (they are still active) - we called it AoR these days, great US hard rock, melodic but with power - I see them in a similar league area such as Foreigner, Styx or Kansas. Probably 99.9% here never will have heard from them, maybe @steevc :-).

I got to know them first by "More than a feeling" during my core Foreigner times in the 1980ies - straight rock I like, always prefered US rock vs European bands to be honest. Liastening to them again now it is a lot very ballad driven - but good quality.

The story is kind of interesting and sad with a suicide of one member (former singer Brad Delp), the leader Tom Scholz was an MIT alumni, their first album was a massive success (17 million sold albums is a number), still the top ever debut album of any band - the good old times where vinyl was sold/bought.

Cool @uwelang ... glad to see you posting on HIVE again! Looks good and hopefully you feel comfortable enough with no downvotes to share with others in the future too! I like seeing this :)

I played that song to death a a teenager, bought the album but couldn't get into it. Then Rock Band (the game) came out and a Boston song was on the playlist, "Foreplay/Long Time".

I must have missed this one first time around!

I remember them well, but didn't have the albums. Tom Scholz was well known for designing guitar effects.

Rock on.

I wanted his Rockman unit when I was starting out on guitar, but it was out of my budget. He was ahead of his time.
