Greetings, community. We reach week 70 of this wonderful Festival that keeps us active in music and gives us the opportunity to interact with musicians of all genres, all levels and from all parts of the world. This week I bring to share with you a song that several decades ago was very fashionable here in Venezuela. This is "Elevation". Song recorded by the extraordinary Venezuelan vocalist -Mayra Martí in 1969 on the album of the same name.

I know - and you surely also know - various songs in which the love of a couple is described as a feeling that brings us closer to heaven: "...when I dream of you the heaven comes down to me..." ("Wishes and delusions" by Pedro Fernandez"), "...Allow me to make you equal to the sky That it is up to me to be the sea..." ("The Sea and the Sky" by the trio Los Panchos), "...to love... is to touch the lintels of glory..." ("Amémonos" by Mirna Ríos) and many others. However, the song that I have heard deal with this topic in a more profound way is this one, "Elevación", with Mayra Martí. A very beautiful lyric, a melody that corresponds line by line to the meaning of its lyrics , all this together with the wonderful voice of Mayra Martí whose singing has been compared to that of angels: the songs that Mayra has performed with a unique style and an extraordinary voice that only
angels can have.
All this explains the privileged place that "Elevación" occupies in Mayra Martí's select repertoire.

Saludos, comunidad. Llegamos a la semana 70 de este maravilloso Festival que nos mantiene activos en la música y nos brinda la oportunidad de interactuar con músicos de todos los géneros, todos los niveles y de todas partes del mundo.

Esta semana traigo para compartir con ustedes una canción que hace varias décadas estuvo muy de moda acá en Venezuela. Se trata de "Elevación" . Canción que grabara la extraordinaria vocalista venezolana -Mayra Martí en 1969 en el álbum del mismo nombre.

Conozco - y ustedes también de seguro conocen - diversas canciones en las cuales el amor de pareja es descrito como un sentimiento que nos acerca al cielo : "...cuando yo sueño contigo el cielo baja hasta mí..." ("Deseos y delirios" de Pedro Fernandez"), "...Permíteme igualarte con el cielo
Que a mi me corresponde ser el mar..." ("El mar y el cielo" del trío Los Panchos), "...amar...es tocar los dinteles de la gloria..." ("Amémonos" de Mirna Ríos) y otras muchas. Sin embargo la canción que he escuchado tratar este tema de manera más profunda es esta, "Elevación", con Mayra Martí. Una letra demasiado hermosa, una vez que se corresponde línea por línea al sentido de su lírica, todo esto unido a la maravillosa voz de Mayra Martí cuyo canto se ha comparado al de los ángeles: las canciones que Mayra ha interpretado con un estilo único y una voz extraordinaria que sólo los ángeles pueden tener.. Todo esto explica el privilegiado sitial que ocupa "Elevación" en el selecto repertorio de Mayra Martí.
