Mother's Sacrifice

Being a woman is not easy because the responsibilities we have to shoulder is not an easy one. Could you imagine that most men will still not agree with the fact that women are trying. All through my days in higher institution, I always make out time to visit my sister and her children once in a while after my studies. I used to notice how relieved she always appear to be whenever I knock on her door and she opens to see it's me. At one point she could no longer hide her feelings, she sighed heavily. After that day she opened up to tell me how her life has changed since after child birth and sometimes she will tell me of how difficult a choice it was to quit her dream job and be sitting at home every single day to babysit her new born baby.
Sometimes she will tell me of how her baby has been crying uncontrollably even though she has been having headaches, she still will have to be the only one present to stay with my little niece and still be trying to calm her down.
She also went ahead to tell me how her husband will just came back from work and walk straight to the kitchen to see if she cooked anything and after eating, she'll have to clear up everything while her husband will simply fall asleep on the chair only to be woken up by her after some serious moments of name callings and tapping to wake him up. Sometimes she will feel like lifting him up to the bedroom and lay him down on the bed.
According to my sister she said, even when her baby wakes up in the middle of the night and starts crying, her husband will just wake her up and start sleeping without offering her any assistance. Sometimes she will just wake up with headache in the morning and still do all the house chores without his husband's support or assistance. My sister said she prefers going to work and coming back or even just going out to visit some places and return back later with her child but her husband has strictly restricted her from going out and allowing her friends to visit her at home.
She said as it is now, she can only visit her friends whenever she sets out to go to the market to buy some food.
She can't really tell if her husband has been hanging out after his working hours or not before coming back home but the only thing she knows is that he hardly makes time for her like he used to before she got pregnant. No more gisting her about work or even telling her a bit more of what happens outside. Life has really been boring for her she said, sometimes she feels like she'll go nuts added to the fact that her baby will be crying non stop sometimes.
As for me, most times due to sympathy I do spend longer time than I planned to stay just to help her out with the almost unending home chores.
This starts making me wonder what the life of a woman is like truly and our real purpose of existence. Are all men truly like this? Many men can't even spend five hours straight staying at home with their partners without finding an excuse to go out to visit a friend or going to the office, yet they expect their wives to spend almost all their lifetime at home alone. I've also noticed from my sisters husband that many men can't even spend quality time with their children. I always watch him and I noticed that this man can't even stand it when their baby starts crying, he will always call on his wife to come and handle the baby and make him stop crying as if his wife is a magician yet he doesn't show any form of appreciation to his wife's efforts.

Song Lyrics
Let's not forget that women are the ones who goes through labor and pass through the harsh pain of child birth. Please let's put it into account that women needs the support of their partners (men) and we also need to be free to associate with at least some good people around us because God created us humans to be social and be able to relate with one another and in the times of need to find support.
As a woman, I still don't believe that a woman's place can only be limited at home or in the kitchen because many women like myself who is a designer needs to be free in order to bring beauty and more colors to the world at large as our support and contribution to life on earth as God has destined it.
May God bless every good mother and faithful wife out there.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR STOPPING TO READ MY POST.
It is quite sad in your society this seems to be the case.
Fortunately, in other societies men and women, as well as husbands and wives, treat each other much more equally. Though with being equal also comes with its downsides. For instance in Sweden for decades mothers (have to) work 5 days per week, like fathers. Children are mostly parented by the state. In my country, mothers are equal to father as well, though we are a bit more free as a society to Sweden, I think. The result is that most mothers work 2 or 3 days a week, although they are encouraged to work 5 days. fathers usually work 5 or 4 days, with at least 1 day at home. Mother as well, 1 day at home. Then 2 or 3 days daycare. Jobs at home, more or less equally shared between father and mother. This wasnt always the case. One need to fight for it. This all happened in these part of the world in the late 60s, 70s and beyond.
Wow... Its really awesome to know how things work in your area. I've seen families here too were everything is shared accordiny and is balanced.
