The visit

Bella! Bella, come! Run, it's time to go home... Good girl. - Emilia hugged Bella who obediently ran to her. It is a lovely Siberian Husky who mostly loves the coldest season of the year, though autumn also brings her a lot of happy moments here in the green spot of the city, in the park. They call it the lungs of the city, giving that much-needed oxygen to the citizens of Madrid. For Emilia and her husband, it is a place where they can spend the mornings, strolling in peace while Bella explores all around the huge park.

Years are leaving some marks on their bodies. These days their bones feel the upcoming rain or the wind and give signals in the form of pain in the dawn. Well, that's time to wake up then - to Bella's great pleasure. The city and the park, the bakery on the corner and the whole neighbourhood are waiting for her snout. Sometimes Mario stays at home and only Emilia accompanies Bella on her canine adventures.

That day the breakfast was already waiting when they entered the kitchen of their wide and beautifully decorated home. Emilia bought a fresh baguette and everything seemed much brighter than usual. After breakfast, they painted in the atelier for a while, then took a shower, found some nice clothes and listened to their daughter's favourite piece. It was Ravel and the piece where she debuted as a young oboist in the orchestra just after high school. Alicia stood out with her talent from an early age and they could not hide their delight and pride each time this piece resonated between the tall walls of the living room.

Oh, Emilia! Let me see your eyes, don't hide those jewels - Mario gently wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes. - Such emotional moments, I know... we are visiting Alicia today!

For several moments they were looking at themselves in the mirror. An elegant, elderly couple stood there with their hands intertwined. Just some decades ago they would shine with the same spirit, with the same unconditional and supporting love, the only thing that changed was the hair colour and wrinkled face. They were ready to go, leaving this time Bella at home, as they used to do every time while going to Alicia's place.

The taxi left the elegant couple by the imposing wrought iron gate. Familiar names were greeting them, one by one. They knew all of them by heart and would spot every little change. As always, Emilia was carrying a cloth bag with their favourite cake, wrapped in a clean tea towel and some cushions, just in case. Sitting with Alicia until late... their old bones would appreciate those soft cushions. They would tell her all about the new paintings they were creating and the new style that Mario was discovering in those old days. The visitors in the latest exposition simply loved that new touch and Emilia was more than proud of the success her husband achieved.

Emilia also revealed a secret - they would go on a cruise trip to Greece, next week before the bad weather makes the sea more difficult to sail. An additional exciting thing was that some of their artworks would be exposed on the cruiser. But it is just one week, and they will be back here, as soon as they arrive in Madrid... Their usual visit will happen over and over again with the cake packed in the tea towel, with love wrapped in stories, and with music in their heart.

I love the story of this couple, Emilia enjoys her walks in the park in the company of Bella, a beautiful cyberian dog.

This fiction reminded me of the first years we lived with my wife; My sister-in-law gave us a Cyberian dog. In addition to being beautiful, huskies are extremely affectionate. We really enjoyed Sasha's company. That was the name of our beautiful dog.
Thank you very much dear friend @mipiano for sharing this beautiful writing. Have a beautiful afternoon

Yes, huskies are great dogs! Had the opportunity to walk one afternoon with a husky of one Hiver, and everyone on the promenade spotted us 😅

Terrible... beautiful and sad. This situation seems to me the most cruel and unfair that can happen to a family. I hope that this beautifully written story is just fiction and has nothing to do with personal, or family experiences.
Once again I say that I really liked the way you wrote, you have a talent as a writer, not just as a pianist. You found such a discreet way to write about the biggest tragedy that can happen in a family!

Yes, this is just pure fiction - the names, the place, the situation and all.

On the other side, it could happen to any of us, to any family, right?

Hmm.. yes, I hope it was indeed a discreet way... thank you so much @bluemoon 😇

There is a cemetery here in Havana, the largest in the country, which is a real architectural jewel, and when you walk through it, you can see people like Emilia, maybe not with a cake in their hands, but with their flowers and their stories for the loved one who rests there.
Just two days ago I had to go there for the loss of a family member and I remember when I arrived I thought "Hi Dad, Hi Grandma".

We are maybe all in some way Emilias, Marios or Alicias...

Just two days ago I had to go there for the loss of a family member and I remember when I arrived I thought "Hi Dad, Hi Grandma".

😔

I also say Hi to my grandmothers when I am there...

Would be cool to see it, from photos at least ;)

The cemetery where I took these photos is not a huge architectural jewel, though there is one monument of one family crypt that I like to see every time:

Beautiful, moving and sad story, it touches the depths of the heart to imagine those moments, and the photographs illustrate them very well.

You write super nice @mipiano ❤️

I begin to say what my heart dictates..... This is so beautiful, I've read it I think more than 5 times.
The numbers on this clock don't change. This is the longest minute I have ever lived in my entire life.
How can you say so much between joy and sadness?
Tengo un nudo en la garganta.

I robbed a long minute from your life then :D
Hope the clock changed in the end and you didn't stay trapped in time. Ok, broma jaja.
Yo al leerlo de nuevo tenía que editar dos palabras, pero este escrito todavía deja muchísimo que desear, en todo. {no lo mires con ojos de jurado, por fa 🙏}
Joy and sadness - me imagino que todos podemos encontrar este dualismo en nosotros.
Y muchas gracias Nanixxx, espero ya no hay nudos en la garganta por este post 😉

I liked fighting that story. Especially when you talk about the immense pride that Emilia feels for her husband's success. I think you reflect the essence of a relationship. It's nice to have good teammates! It's just my humble opinion.

Oh, @pumarte 😞

I didn't want to make you sad, though the story can maybe lead there.
Think from the positive side - when you two see each other for the next time use it in the best possible way 😇

It takes a lot of work and time to make such things and then they become so beautiful.

How could I not? I mean have you read your own post? Fantastic. Right now I've just posted something here, over this niche related to darkness and photography. I felt your work deeply, friend. Thanks for the feedback.
