Find your old photo albums - you will need them!
Who's up to leafing through old photo albums?
If you want to join me in this activity come and look into the ones I have found. There is a whole bag, full of these old-fashioned memory treasure chests, but I took out just a couple of them. I knew which exact photo I wanted to find and why. The trigger? A song I heard a few days ago that made me start a trip down memory lane. Back to one evening when a photo was taken, of me, pretending to be someone else. I know I don't even resemble that person in the physical aspect, not to mention the brilliance that this man possessed. I can only try to be a little crazy sometimes, but a true genius - Salvador Dalí is unsurpassed.

I think I would like to post it in this hidden way, maybe there are sensible people around or children, not to scare them away with my gaze haha. I took a strand of my hair and used it as a moustache. For the rest, please switch on the imagination.

The song!
"Eungenio" Salvador Dalí. That's the name of the song I listened to a few days ago, first as a cover and then the original one several times.
Mecano, one the most iconic pop bands in Spain wrote and released this song when the famous artist, painter, writer... in one word - the genius of surrealism, Salvador Dalí was already more than 80 years old. The lyrics "suggest" to him - If you reincarnate as a thing, do it in pencil or brush.
Beauty was compressed in his mind, as also one of the lines in the song says. There is so much truth in this phrase! Artists have all their work in their beautiful minds, the trick is to find a way to reach it and express it, through their means and own style. They need a muse for that, of course, and Dalí had his own one. Gala.
{little intermezzo, but I guess just the Spanish speakers will understand. Do you know what the name "Eungenio" in the title of this song represents? Seems that it is because Dalí e(s) un genio ;D}
My journey through one of these photo albums doesn't finish with just that photo. You see that I was just pretending there, but the real meeting with this artist (through his works) happened on one school excursion. It was a trip that we (from the music high school) made together with the students from the arts high school. The aim was to visit museums and historical places for nine days in Italy, France and Spain. One day was spent in Figueras.
We stepped out of the bus, wrinkled and tired, but happy. Imagine our faces seeing a building that had huge eggs on the roof. It was Dalí Theatre and Museum that we visited. The interior brought a lot of excitement, we found ourselves in a very peculiar world - it was like walking inside Salvador's mind.

With a friend, inside The Olympic Stadium Barcelona. The Summer Olympic Games were held there in 1992.
But where are all the people and the athletes?
Oh, it seems we went just a bit late to that event as we found it empty.
Maybe just a few years late, but that is something I leave as a guessing game. The year I visited this place? Maybe a little reward will come if you give the correct answer or just play for fun if you fancy it.
Late or not for the Olympic Games, the thing is that one song went there with me, to Barcelona. I heard the name of this city for the first time through these marvellous voices when I was small. Years passed and then the excursion came and I met Barcelona in real. There I made a wish, that somehow came true (many years later).
My first (maybe there will be more of these) little journey through photographs from old photo albums finishes here. However, we decided to make a writing initiative from this idea. From time to time will we will launch some challenges again, and this is one of them.
The only thing you have to do is find your old-fashioned photo albums. Choose a photo (or more of them) you want to show us, tell the story behind it and how it is connected to a musical experience.
The photo can be crazy, funny, normal or from your childhood, anything that brings you some memories you would like to share with us.
The story behind the photo and the connection with the track/song or composition can be a real story/memory, a dream or fiction, it's up to you. But let's go together on these photo trips through music.
It is an open invitation, there is no deadline and you can join in as many times as you want.

It saddened me thinking about my lost old photographs.. The oldest I kept was from 2011 onwards I guess.. Only a few left taken when I was still a student...

I am lucky that I still have some of those photos when I was baby haha. But we had less photos back in time. Like one small album for almost the whole childhood.

Old photos are souveniers. I lost mine, my compilation of my elementary and high school day photos. I think I lost the album when Typhoon Haiyan hit us.
Oh, that is sad to hear. But I guess there are many things that go missing when a typhoon hits 😥

Hiding the most interesting photo of the post? What a nice one! Did he really look like that? I mean with those eyes piercing the ... uhm ... surroundings? Well, not really the surroundings, more what's directly in from of them. The line moustache, yeap, that's him! 😉 The trip to Barça. After trying to read all your blogs and comments just yet, in speed mode, couldn't find anything, so I have to go with a big guess. Trying to calculate it a little as well. I would say somewhere around the millennium. Perhaps a little before we entered the 3rd millenium when taking the Gregorian calendar as the reference. So somewhere between mid-90s and late 90s. Exact dates, years and all. I really don't know, but let's say: 1996. But only when you put a gun to my head, otherwise would've stuck to the mid to late 90s 😎
The first time I was in Barça, I can't remember that well anymore. Must have been a stopover for a flight from Amsterdam to Ibiza. I think at least. Sure, have been visiting Barça more often, but not remembering I was on a proper visit to that magnificent but crazy city before my first visit to Ibiza back in 2001 or 2002. Perhaps my old photographs tell me something. Though I don't have them stuck in a book. More like in carton boxes.
Haha, that was the most interesting photo, the hidden one? Well, true, those from the excursion were just two nice and normal ones. {I did find some other interesting photos from the excursion, but those were not for sharing publicly 😁}

Soooo 😎 these days in my country. Full on. Most of the time. But northern wind, hence early spring-like temperatures. Watergun : when I read that in your comment the first thing I thought of is some water fest they have over in Thailand, which happened about a month ago or so. We also have an event in NL when peeps are not safe from becoming wet, normal wet or coloured wet (coloured water). Don't have any photographs taken by myself, so no entry for this challenge.
Seriously? Just when I wanted to submit those pictures for free, pfffff. Gratis. Now I have to think about what to do with your generous and undefined offer!

Mothers indeed are the best keepers, and also, they always know where to find a missing thing in the house. If they can't find it, then the thing disappeared :D
My old photos are on it's way being shipped back to me. It's been three years since I've had them with me, and a few more years before that since I opened and gone through them. It will be interesting to have them with me again
It will be exciting to go through those albums and photos once they arrive, I am sure! I have always loved to do that, especially those photos of our grandparents and parents, some different times I could dive into 😍

I have already solved the problem. My answer is this: @mipiano was 18 years old when she went to Barcelona. Can't you see she looks 18? So, doing some math with her current age... she was there in 1999.

The photo with the little donkey was taken on one vacation, so I saw that one too when I was looking in those albums. Wanted to use it for another post, something that will have to go with animals and music, that came to my mind after the post from Alt3r, but I am not sure when I can prepare it, no time at the moment so the photo came here :))

I have so many photos like this that aren't digital, I guess it shows my age, haha. I have wanted to do a post such as yours for awhile. Most of my photo albums are at my mother's house. I do have a photo album of my great grandma where she showed cased her baby, my grand father. A lot of the photos are from 1911-1915. Maybe I do something on that in the near future.
I do have a music photo connection during my childhood but that photo is in an album at my mother's house. I like your idea here and I will participate at some point when I can visit my mother next.

There was a box with old photographs in the house of my grandma. She died, and the box with the photos is now in my parents' house. Yes, some photos are from that time you mention, my great-grandmother when she was a girl. And even her family, all older brothers she had.

I love old photographs. Seeing old farm equipment, devices, boats, cars, clothing, and anything else you don't see anymore fascinates me. I'll make it a summer goal to share here. Another promise article I hope to keep. Take care :)

Mingling in, and not trying to give ideas, but why not ask your mother to take a photo (with a smartphone) of said photo and build from there? I think I promised mrs Piano to enter as well, and likely I'll do this with a photo my mom shared with me a few years ago, the same way I proposed to you 😉 Please don't mind me barging in with such unrequested advice 🙇
There are too many and my mother is 80 years old and is not very hip with technology, haha. I know it's just one picture, that in itself may take her time to find among 20+ albums. She took a lot of photos :) She's not in the best of conditions and I certainly don't want to burdon her. That's why and no problem with you chiming in.
Those are some solid reasons. Ah well, we just have to wait until you get to the albums. A challenge with patience build right into it; No mention of any deadline 😉

It's nice to keep those photo albums, I like to look at mine from time to time and watch myself as a kid, the clothes I wore, the places I have been, like you say it's a trip down memory lane.
That's it! I do it too, though I have just one small photo album from when I was a kid. We didn't have a lot of photographs in those times... but I do like to watch them, and from other family members, when they were young.

Photos are a very important part of our story! In fact they are extremely personal, because the emotions and what we felt in those moments immortalized on paper we experienced them... even those who were beside us cannot describe what we felt!
The only "bad" side, if we can say so, is that streak of nostalgia we get from remembering past times, but not from remorse or anything else, just from the desire to relive them!
Looking at the photo, based on the clothing I could venture 1994-1995; even if I didn't get it right, it doesn't matter, I had fun looking for clues in the photograph!
I like this kind of old album challenge, we could coin a hashtag to participate, or tag you so you can stop by and read our stories!

Nostalgia - it is sometimes good, right? When I visit my parents (it happens just in summer as we live far) we always dedicate at least one evening to watching old photographs. It doesn't matter I know them by heart, I fully enjoy remembering the people from the photos, and the stories around them.
