Ensayo con una Banda de Chicas Salseras | Rehearsal with an All-Girl Salsa Band

Hola, Queridos Hivers!

Hoy tuve mi primer ensayo como violinista suplente en la agrupación Joly y su Orquesta, y me divertí mucho!

Ya había ido una vez, pero solo como oyente. Desde allí empecé a estudiar unos temas que ellas ya tenían montados, pero no pude asistir más porque justo había empezado tratamiento.

Hoy pude reincorporarme, y vimos unos temas nuevos. Yo los escuché en casa, pero no tenían partituras para violín, y estaba un poco nerviosa por eso. Lo bueno es que fui practicando poco a poco el arte de la improvisación.

Llegó un momento en el que Joly me pidió que cantara y me puse súper nerviosa, no sabía que hacer! Porque yo al estudiar me enfoqué más en el acompañamiento que en las voces, pero ahí hice lo que pude jejeje.

Seguimos revisando varias piezas, leyendo las partituras con los saxofones, cuadrando las repeticiones y los solos, hasta que de repente Joly me señaló a mi para que hiciera un solo con el violín! La verdad no lo hice nada mal jajaja, pero si me tomó por sorpresa. Y cuando se me acabó la creatividad le hice señas de que ya había terminado el solo, fue muy gracioso eso.

Al terminar el ensayo repartieron trozos de pastel y cambures.
Fue una experiencia muy linda! Estoy muy feliz y agradecida con Mavi (la violinista titular), que fue quien me recomendó en primer lugar, ya quiero volver a ir!

Hello, dear Hivers!

Today I had my first rehearsal as a substitute violinist with Joly and her Orchestra, and I had so much fun!

I had been there once before, but only as an observer. I started studying some pieces they had already arranged, but I couldn't attend anymore because I had just started treatment.

Today I was able to rejoin, and we learned some new pieces. I had listened to them at home, but they didn't have violin scores, and I was a little nervous about that. The good thing is that I gradually practiced the art of improvisation.

There came a moment when Joly asked me to sing, and I got super nervous; I didn't know what to do! Because when I studied, I focused more on accompaniment than on vocals, but I did my best, hehe.

We continued reviewing several pieces, reading the scores with the saxophones, working out the repeats and solos, until suddenly Joly pointed to me to do a violin solo! I didn't do too badly, haha, but it did take me by surprise. And when I ran out of ideas, I signaled that I was done with the solo; that was really funny.

At the end of the rehearsal, they handed out pieces of cake and bananas.
It was a wonderful experience! I'm so happy and grateful to Mavi (the lead violinist), who recommended me in the first place. I can't wait to go back!
