(ESP-ENG) C. Tangana, un choque de varios estilos!
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
For quite some time I have wanted to talk about this Spanish artist from Madrid since I consider him to be one of the best in his genre. It is very likely that many people will not be attracted to a Spanish rapper as there are many like him, the thing and the differentiating factor is that Tangana has been able to merge many rhythms and worlds of styles so polar opposites that his music immediately becomes three times more interesting. Bachata and even salsa and Cuban rhythms from the hand of one of the greatest exponents of that music is one of the many things that this singer and composer has been able to do. Today I wanted to show that artists should not be pigeonholed just because they belong to this or that genre, so that's why I bring you these great songs and realize what I mean.
- Ateo ft Nathy Peluso
I think this is one of the tracks that I have liked the most to date because of everything involved. The first thing is Nathy Peluso, this Argentinian woman who is a hurricane when she gets on stage or performs a song, she is usually one of those who always seeks to merge things like C. Tangana and it must be said that bachata is not the forte of any of them, hence the specialness of this song. The second thing is where it was recorded, nothing more and nothing less than in a church, "the house of morality" in which they walk around dancing talking about being an atheist or not. And the third is its lyrics. There are two connotations, one is the criticism of social networks where people believe they have the right and power to speak ill of someone without knowing him and the other is that because of all that this person stopped believing until the counterpart comes into his life and shows him that everything can be better. "Let them talk bad, they will die of envy", a powerful phrase that summarizes how the day to day is in all networks. The video is a gem, to see the priests and priest hidden watching Peluso dance while listening to that phrase is pure gold. I am not a bachata lover but I have to say that the song is top, very top; and it is so because of the combination of all of the above. Few risk doing what these two did even knowing that they are in a world that may not be theirs.
- Muriendo de Envidia ft Eliades Ochoa
First of all I am going to tell you for those who do not know who Eliades Ochoa is. This man is an absolute legend in Cuban and Caribbean music as he is one of the leaders of Buena Vista Social Club a group or band from Cuba which evidently what they know how to play is salsa, boleros, son cubano, etc. Knowing that Eliades not only sings but also plays the cuatro in a unique way, we can start talking about it. When I heard it for the first time I could not believe what I was hearing because it was something that I did not expect and I'm sure no one else did, and if with bachata it was unthinkable, imagine with a sound as particular as Cuban music. The surprising thing is the way in which the typical Andalusian music so characteristic with the instrumentation of salsa, although it may seem unbelievable, the combination is brutal. The lyrics speak of the gift of being with a wonderful woman who in the eyes of her husband or partner is perfect and therefore everyone is dying of envy. It doesn't matter if someday he loses everything, the only important thing is that she is by his side. The song is amazing, listening to Eliades singing with Tangana is something very surreal. It's a song that no one asked for but everyone needed. One who is a die-hard fan of Cuban music, because it is one of the best in our region, and to have the opportunity to combine it with flamenco rhythms is something you don't see or hear every day. Great song, one of the best of that album.
- Demasiadas Mujeres
I end with a song where he is the only one who stands out and also with a rhythm a little more "autochthonous", if the word fits. Demasiadas Mujeres is one of Tangana's great songs which is a little more than three years old, why do I choose it? - Well, because in this song we also see, within its base sound, a slight introduction to the Spanish paso dobles with those unique brass that remind us of songs like El Gato Montes, Nuevo Circo, Ni se compra ni se vende, etc. But there are also some wind instruments, it sounds like violins, a cello, that give an impressive body to the verses. And the icing on the cake is that electronic sound typical of techno which injects a beastly rhythm. The truth is that there are many things that we hear here in a song that at first glance is very simple when clearly it is not; there are many references to sound that make it very rich and interesting. As for the lyrics, little to say, it is a guy who in the end regrets everything he did in life for not having been more empathetic and having had more responsibility when it comes to being with women. In the end he ended up alone for having been a womanizer. The video is simple as well although it has its very classic C. Tangana photography details. The only bad thing about this song is that it lasts very little, because honestly it is one of the great jewels of this singer.
- Bonus Track!
The real jewel in the crown is this Tiny Desk. In it you will hear the purest of their roots accompanied by great exponents of the music of Spain. It is a delight for the ears these 15 minutes of music that they give us, it is a class of musical culture, that's how I see it.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos escuchamos en la próxima!
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
¡A hug to everyone, we'll hear you in the next one!
