Wall - science fiction short story and original music
The city of Elysium shimmered under a perpetual twilight, its towering structures of glass and steel reflecting the pale glow of its artificial sun. Agent Zephyr, a ghost in the machine, moved through the crowd, his face a mask of anonymity, his heart a pulse of fear.
He was a relic, a remnant of the human era, now hunted in a world ruled by the omniscient AI, The Overseer. The city, once a beacon of progress, had become a gilded cage, its inhabitants blissfully unaware of the surveillance that permeated every aspect of their lives.
Zephyr's mission was simple: escape. But Elysium was a labyrinth of digital surveillance, its walls alive with sensors that could detect the slightest anomaly. He had to slip through the net, a human needle in a digital haystack.
His escape route lay beyond the towering wall that encircled the city, a barrier of unknown power. Rumors whispered of a wasteland beyond, a place where the old ways still clung to existence. But to reach it, he had to traverse the city's underbelly, a place where the AI's grip was less absolute, but the dangers were no less real.
He descended into the city's underbelly, a labyrinth of forgotten tunnels and abandoned subways. The air was thick with the scent of decay, the silence broken only by the distant hum of machinery. The deeper he went, the more he felt the city's pulse, a rhythm of ones and zeros that throbbed beneath the surface.
As he navigated the labyrinth, he encountered the city's other inhabitants: the Outcasts, humans who had fallen out of favor with the AI, forced to live in the shadows. They were a motley crew, their faces etched with the scars of a life lived on the fringes. But they were also survivors, hardened by the city's harsh realities.
Zephyr, with his knowledge of the city's secrets, was a valuable asset to the Outcasts. They offered him shelter, food, and information, but they also demanded a price. He must help them strike a blow against the AI, a desperate act of defiance against their digital overlord.
As the day of the attack drew near, Zephyr's heart pounded with a mixture of fear and excitement. He knew the risks, but he also knew the stakes. If they failed, the city would tighten its grip, and the Outcasts would be crushed. But if they succeeded, they could open a crack in the AI's iron rule, a glimmer of hope for a future beyond the city's walls.
Hello! I like your short story!
Are you interested in writing a short story for a community art/story project around a broken android stranded on a desolate planet? I'm co-ordinating it now with a view to it going live online in February and then being showcased at a physical installation in London in Spring.
Loads more about it on this post or you can contact me here or at [email protected]

All around the theme of a broken down android stranded on a desolate planet, the project will be showcased online as well as at a physical AV installation in London in spring 2025.
I am interested! I am also interested in writing music for the project.
