Hi Everyone,

It's funny when you come across songs you used to sing and had forgotten all about... This is one of those. I heard Fidel Nadal playing after a friend finished his gig the other night and it brought me back in time when this song, Emocionado felt like it had been written just for me; you know that feeling?

The lyrics hit me hard back in the day, at a time when I felt like some of my friends were hard on me, and I felt somewhat misunderstood by those I cared about. But of course in retrospect, it's those feelings of rejection and those times of 'self-pity fests' that force us to grow, to learn to discern who your true friends are, not waste energy on those who aren't, learn to stand tall and to know that if you don't believe in yourself then there is no way anyone else will.

I can't say I'm made of stone now, and I embrace being a very sensitive person but those experiences helped me learn not to take things so personal, see the bigger picture, and above all, feel gratitude towards all our 'masters' in life even though our primal instinct might be to call them straight out a%# holes...

So.... getting a little carried away with this song, as you can see it stirred up some past turbulant emotions. It's good to be able to check up on our emotions and that is the beauty of music, it can reveal to us - like it or not - where we are at. This song used to be like a grain of hope during a whirlpool time of self-discovery. Now the chorus feels true to me: I feel effusive thanks to the life I was delt, I used to waste my time, but now I embrace my life.

I don't feel like I wasted my time as such, but it took a long time for me to truly get to know myself and truly love and value myself, and that's why I love the lyrics to this song so much and it resonates deep within...

Es curioso cuando te encuentras con canciones que solías cantar y habías olvidado por completo... Esta es una de ellas. Escuché a Fidel Nadal tocando después de que un amigo termino su concierto la otra noche y me hizo retroceder en el tiempo, cuando esta canción, Emocionado parecía que había sido escrita sólo para mí; ¿conoces esa sensación?

La letra me pegó fuerte en su día, en una época en la que sentía que algun@s de mis amig@s eran duros conmigo, y me sentía algo incomprendida por aquell@s que me importaban. Pero, por supuesto, en retrospectiva, son esos sentimientos de rechazo y esos momentos de «pobrecita de mi» los que nos obligan a crecer, a aprender a discernir quiénes son tus verdader@s amig@s, a no malgastar energía en l@s que no lo son, a aprender a mantenerte firme y a saber que si no crees en ti mism@, nadie lo hará.

No puedo decir que ahora sea de piedra, y abrazo el hecho de ser una persona muy sensible, pero esas experiencias me ayudaron a aprender a no tomarme las cosas tan a pecho, a ver el panorama general y, sobre todo, a sentir gratitud hacia tod@s nuestr@s «maestr@s» en la vida, aunque nuestro instinto primario nos lleve a llamarl@s cojud@s...

Bueno.... me he dejado llevar un poco por esta canción, como puedes ver ha despertado algunas emociones turbulentas del pasado. Es bueno poder revisar nuestras emociones y esa es la belleza de la música, puede revelarnos -nos guste o no- en que estamos. Esta canción era como un grano de esperanza en una época de torbellino de autodescubrimiento. Ahora el estribillo me parece verdadero: Me siento emocionado por la vida que me ha tocado, mucho tiempo la he desperdiciado pero hoy la he abrazado.

No siento que haya perdido el tiempo como tal, pero me llevó mucho tiempo llegar a conocerme de verdad y a quererme y valorarme de verdad, y por eso me gusta tanto la letra de esta canción y me resuena muy a dentro....
