This sounds like a fun way to inspire what you are learning in the drumming course.

Since drummers are in back of the band, I wonder how that will feel when performing considering that as a guitarist you would have been closer to the audience.

Drummers might be at the back, but they are the most important part of a band, maybe in line with a bass player; both have to provide a steady beat and keep things together.
There are lots of drummers who connect with their audience even from the back of the stage.

Agreed. A couple come to top of mind: Don Henley and Phil Collins.
