"The Best Mistake" is one of the first songs I wrote, from the same period as "Goodnight" and "Why Cry." Those songs aren't my favorites, but it's clear I appreciate them for existing.

At that time, about 15 years ago, I was discovering different musical facets; I listened to various artists, and some became favorites and then references. Alex Ubago was one of those first musicians I listened to, with a very traditional pop sound. I remember that I started to enjoy those less romantic songs more, with a more alternative rhythm and a faster tempo. Later, I listened to artists like Laura Pausini, Juanes, and Maná; they all fit within the traditional style, but they didn't completely satisfy my musical sensibilities until I heard Ximena Sariñana's songs.

Ximena Sariñana's music was the bridge to a more alternative and independent musical scene, with songs that marked that period of my life and led me to explore new musical currents. After experimenting a bit, as the years went by, I simply noticed how my essence remained rooted there, among those independent melodies.

So the first songs I was able to write perhaps lacked a bit of essence and affinity, although remembering them simply evokes a touch of nostalgia.
