My Story of 2 Paths - Medicine or Filmmaking?

Questions around purpose and what you should be doing with your time usually pop up as you grow and gradually build your life and your own family. Many of us probably wish to stay young and explore life more before 'settling down'. But the reality for most is that they will eventually get there whether they like it or not. I think I'm getting there🤪.

My earlier years have been full of trying everything I could - I learnt how to play 5 musical instruments, learned how to fix electronics, how to do sales, graphics design, basic coding, website design, did athletics etc.
I was mostly just having a great time exploring.

It's quite different now - very different.
Now I have more things to worry about. The everyday bills alone are worrisome, and I've got no one to pay for that, except me😅. I have family and some dependents to cater for, I also have a business to run.
Time now is expensive and harder to find.
It's one thing to have all your bills settled, it's another thing to be sane while in the rat race of life.

I currently work as Radiologist-in-training in a 'third-world' environment, even though the work to pay ratio is grossly abysmal. You're severely overworked for peanuts.

I also run a media house on the side to augment my primary work.

One would ask why I still haven't left my country to seek greener pastures as a medical doctor. It's the usual norm for medical doctors here in Nigeria to 'japa' after medical school. Japa means to seek greener pastures in the Western world.

While things look grim in Nigeria, I still strongly believe where there are problems, opportunities still abound.

After spending 7 years in medical school and more than half a decade practicing medicine, I just thought I should see it through to a reasonable end - hence my choice pursuing residency in Radiology - a specialty I'd always admired from my medical school days.
The practice of Radiology, however, is predominantly more rudimentary than cutting-edge.
But perhaps, I just want to have something to hold on to while I pursue my dreams of filmmaking and music.

I really don't think I'm pumped to practice as a Radiologist, even when I'm done with the training.
I hope to however see how I could add my quota providing diagnostic services, perhaps remotely, whilst making films (see some of my work here).
Let's see how that goes.

There are actually business opportunities to set up diagnostic centers that can provide the much needed health diagnostic services that are still quite in shortage. I would love to key into that, but I would also need some MASSIVE capital to acquire good machines and secure a good spot.

In the interim, I'll just keep at building my media enterprise on the side one block at a time.
I hope I don't get tired out.

Wish me luck!

Or what do you think? Do you have some advice for me?
