Who am I?

Hello Hive! This is Mary Jane Dumalag from San Jose Jagobiao Mandaue City, Cebu. I am married to Jemuel Dumalag and have 2 children named Bless and Preach Dumalag. I'm a hands-on mother who takes care of my family with tender love.

You can call me @crownrich on this platform. It's my old name on some of my social media account and it is a combination of two words that gives a remarkable meaning to me.

What I do for a Living?

I am a graduate of Education at Mandaue City College. I got my license in 2019. But I didn't continue to teach because I just decided to help out with our small business, which is "ukay ukay" or thrifted shoes. Though it only has a small income return I find pleasure in this business because it is pressure free since we don't have a boss.

MY HOBBIES :

Here are my hobbies. One of my hobbies is writing. I really like to write, especially those experiences that come along my way. I will scribble them down in my diary. And eating, I wonder if it can be categorized as a hobby, but for me, "eating" is really my second hobby.

PARENTS AND SIBLINGS:

Another thing to share with you is my parents. I thank the Lord for my parents. They are also kind and responsible. They raised us with a God-fearing heart. My brothers and sisters are also kind and superbly generous. There are 3 of us and I am the eldest. I also have my first cousin, Amy. She is an adorable person and she is like our biological sister. Actually, she introduced me to this platform, Hive.

UNFORGETABLE CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCE:

Did you know I'm a singer somehow in my childhood days? 😅

Moving on, here is my childhood experience that is hard to forget. When I was a child, my father trained me to sing. I participated in a contest on radio stations like dyhp, dyrc, dycm, dykc and dyla. First, I would join in the audition on Saturday afternoon. It is even possible that I will be among those selected to be one of the contestants on Sunday evening because there were a lot of them whose voices were so incredible. But thank God I passed the audition portion. However, knowing the fact that most of them were hard to beat, I simply had the idea of losing the contest. Anyway, it was not a big deal for me.

If ever I won, it's because of luck. The judges perhaps committed an error in scoring( LOL), maybe my opponent's score will be put under my name. Because a long time ago, the singing hall was a bit crowded, lights were poorly installed and most of the judges were old people (lol). So there was a time that I was surprised because I won. And that's when I suspected that they missed the score 😅. (lol) But on the other hand, I am very happy because I will receive 300 pesos yeheey! With my previous contests, I always had consolation prizes, such as silver swan soy sauce, holiday beef loaf, and a head cap.

Another singing encounter competition which I believe to be a nerve-racking experience when I was only nine years old at the time. I was really scared, I was so nervous and it never stopped. And when I was called, my nervousness really got worse and I couldn't put it down. I was just in charge at that time. And when I started to sing, my knees were shaking and my voice seemed to join, because of that I almost fainted😅 (lol). But of course, my voice and my singing career gradually developed.

Especially when my father introduced me to a newly discovered thing that he called "voicing strategy". It was something to be worked out at 4 o'clock in the morning. So we had to wake up that early and had my first voicing practice. That was the time when our neighbor got angry because he said we were making too much noise. Well, they were right because everyone was still sleeping.

You know, as a young kid, we're always following our parent's instructions. Until then, I will bathe in the sea, then the sea will be up to my neck, then I will practice singing. It was also effective because my voice was raised, and I could reach a high pitch. That's why I can reach a high-pitched tune like Regine Velasquez's, but that was before. (LOL)

How do I Meet Hive?

I attended Hive Onboarding Orientation last July 29, 2023 at Kal-anan High School together with the Teacher bloggers of Cebu North and sir @ybanezkim26, @indayclara, and @intoy.bugoy. It was my first cousin, Ma'am Amelita Loberanes @melit79, who introduced me to this platform. Right now it's @intoy.bugoy, my onboarder, who patiently guides me through the steps in obtaining my hive account and all matters concerning this platform. My purpose in joining Hive is honestly to enhance my skill in writing and grammar and contribute to Hive's objectives, also to become a credible source of local and relevant information.

MOTTO IN LIFE:

Finally, let's have my motto in life. I always believe that humility and determination harvest abundance and honor. We all want abundance in all forms and sizes. Nevertheless, it is quite impossible to obtain those if we fail to humble ourselves before God and even men. No matter how far we have gone through, if we have reached the pedestal or not yet, let us remain low.

To top it off, determination is a perfect blender. It is obviously inescapable to find ourselves entangled with some extremely rough-to-handle situations and at some points cliffs so huge to climb. Whatever the peak of a challenge is, remember that humility and determination to succeed matter to become a real victor in this life.
