‘Your days breaks, your mind aches...’ These are the words with which begins one of the songs with less travel, and therefore, knowledge; of the enormous and magical musical career of The Beatles; ‘For No One’ And why is this important? Well, because this post aims to deal with the ‘B’ side of life, of thoughts also of sonority....
A girl walks along, seemingly lost; aimlessly.... But in reality, inside her mind, everything is in perfect control. In her accelerated thinking, which has nothing to envy to a Formula One single-seater, where all the action happens. She doesn't quite know what's happening to her.... She theorises, speculates, throws out approximations; as if it were a guessing game...
The truth is that, for some considerable time now, boredom and weariness with routine have been going around in her head. A real intrusive thought. She escapes a few hours a day between the music that was once released but which nobody seems to remember in 2024... (She) doesn't think she's too special, but as a child she's learned to find comfort in certain pursuits, certain songs...
‘Kid, The greatest hits are fun and extraordinary; but the real magic is in the B-sides of the records...’ Those are the verbatim words that formed an impregnable abode in this girl's psyche.... Sometimes she can't remember what she had for dinner two nights ago, but what her grandfather repeated to her as a child is inscribed in stone. Indelible, impossible to leave in the oblivion...
Perhaps today's generations, and a couple of older ones too, don't remember that before the digitalisation of music and the mp3 or mp4 format, the distribution of what we love was done in many other formats... All of them, from vinyl, cd's, vhs, DVD, etc had (some of them, ha) two sides. ‘The a and b side. And as a faithful follower of a philosophy left in the shadows, the girls never underestimate the other side of music. And yes, this covers a lot... And yes, of course, the night is a beautiful simile to contrast.
As the daylight fades, giving way to the inexorable arrival of night, she decides to kill the boredom and, at times, suffocating ennui with aimless walks... Her feet, following a mind bewitched by a selection of music that doesn't receive too many spotlights... There she goes, hypnotised with her light gait and feeling a little more satisfied, fulfilled, pleased... The backdrop of this story is the calm and placid nights... The life behind the ‘B’ side of the records. Perhaps not very well known, but full of anecdotes and personal richness that give rise to the enjoyment of sounds and a memory or two of the past...
