Why BlockTunes NFTs Are Better Than Soundcloud

blocktunes.jpg

Most musicians and music lovers alike have at least heard of Soundcloud by now. It's the world's largest platform for independent musicians to share their work and start to build a following. Somewhere down the line though, the music industry heads basically took over control of the platform and forced Soundcloud to start censoring artists. This took away the independent spirit of the platform and we have been looking to build a better alternative altogether.

We believe that the Web 3 movement and the technology behind it is that solution! This is where BlockTunes NFTs come into play! Let's talk a bit how using BlockTunes NFTs is a better way to share your music than using Soundcloud.

Breaking Free from Centralized Control

Soundcloud's journey from a haven for independent artists to a platform influenced by the mainstream music industry is the same as any other company that started out for the people but became more about the profit. BlockTunes, on the other hand, embraces decentralization, providing artists with the freedom to share their work without interference from centralized entities. Say goodbye to arbitrary restrictions and hello to true artistic expression.

Direct Artist-to-Fan Connection

BlockTunes facilitates a direct connection between artists and fans, eliminating the need for intermediaries. With NFTs, artists can engage with their audience on a personal level, building a community that appreciates and supports their craft. This direct interaction enhances the overall music experience, fostering a sense of authenticity that is often lost in the mainstream music landscape. NFT giveaways are a great way to help build some momentum around your artist brand. This gives the fans a sense of ownership over their digial music unlike streaming platforms.

NFTs: Your Music, Your Rules

BlockTunes leverages the power of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) to ensure immutable ownership of your music. Unlike Soundcloud, where control can be taken away, NFTs on BlockTunes are embedded in the Hive Engine second layer smart contracts, guaranteeing that artists retain control over their creations. You make the music, you make the rules!

Tokenizing Music: Adding Real Value

By tokenizing your music as NFTs on BlockTunes, you're not just sharing a song – you're sharing a piece of art with inherent value. Fans can collect and trade these unique tokens, creating a vibrant marketplace that transcends traditional streaming platforms. It's a new era of music consumption, where your creations are valued as digital assets. Where Soundcloud really only let's you share your songs, BlockTunes NFTs gives you the ability to both share and sell your work, giving you an extra source of possible income with your music!

Supporting Independent Artists Not Platforms

Choosing BlockTunes over Soundcloud means actively supporting the independent music scene. The decentralized nature of BlockTunes ensures that artists receive a more significant portion of the revenue generated from their work, fostering a sustainable ecosystem where creativity flourishes. Once an artist mints an NFT, they can share that with the community where anyone can listen to their music, but only few can claim ownership if you sell a copy! You can then use the owners list to give people private invites to live events, send special download links, and more!

Keeping Artists Honest

Artists can build a solid reputation in the community using our NFT platform. When minting NFTs, you are required to have some $MUSIC tokens staked and pay a small fee in the same token to get whitelisted. It also costs a bit to actually mint the NFTs themselves. This gives a layer of security around the music ownership. Most people trying to scam a system wouldn't pay and or risk their online reputation just to post someone else's music as an NFT for profit. This is where Hive's reputation also helps keep artists in check. If the community catches them trying to sell or share other people's music as an NFT, then they will call the person out, downvote them, and it will ruin that person's reputation with the community. Trust me, you don't want that to happen. So doing things this way also keep the artist honest!

So, in the era of Web 3.0, BlockTunes is trying to emerge as a transformative force, reshaping the music industry for the better. By embracing decentralization, ensuring immutable ownership, providing fair compensation, BlockTunes stands as a beacon of hope for independent artists seeking to break free from the constraints of mainstream platforms.

It's not just a platform; it's a movement that empowers artists to reclaim their art and connect with a community that truly values their creativity. So, why settle for the broken old system when you can join BlockTunes and the Hive Blockchain? Your music deserves more than just a play button, it deserves to be a part of something revolutionary.

Yesterday I was in a web3 space about the difference for musicians on web 1 vs 2 vs 3 and how things are way more disruptive but also confusing for many artists.

If web 2 was confusing, web 3 is even more. Thanks for writing articles like this to debate the definitive roadmap for an artist.

Yes, it is confusing and that is a big problem with onboarding new people. I have at least gotten the BlockTunes project down to one blockchain, lol. When we started out, we has stuff built on BSC and Polygon too, lol. The EVM stuff was a big turn off to the original users so I had to simplify things a bit.

Yes multi-chain is a roadblock. However the issue is the huge amounts of alternatives and lack of success stories. As opposed to mainstream artists that were discovered on different platforms, instead we sort of need a self-made artists thanks to his crypto backup. This look more like content creation success than actual performance success.

I've seen too many blockchains solutions for music, but still no strong one. Even mainstream artists have jumped into creating NFT albums like Kool Keith on wax, or Snoop and Method Man on Crypto.com, or NAS on Royal. There isn't a consolidated ecosystem that brings music listeners to the platform where the artist reside. Both music and music business are all over the place on Web3.

That’s just the nature of it right now. It’s all new. The problem is that the bear market really killed allot of NFT momentum because they were used wrong the whole time. We are all just trying to build something new. Most of us don’t have the reach as people like Snoop, so people also need to be patient.
