I am the youngest of 10 kids. By the time I came along, the older ones were out with their own families, so what money used to be spread out caring for a bunch, could not be used more generously.
My Mama loved antiques, old furniture etc. Her Birthday was Feb 1st 1916, so in Jan 1965 daddy bought her an old, but working Bellows Organ. I immediately began "picking out" songs by ear. I was 10, and small for my age so that I had to pile up books in the chair so I could both reach the pedals to pump the bellows and play the keyboard.
Mama and Daddy both had a lot of music in their families, so they said "Well, lets give him some lessons and see what he's got."
I started in Sept 1966 and took piano lessons for 6 yrs. No one ever had to make me practice, it just came to me easily.
So there is my backstory
