RE: Vinyl records - an item interesting just for collectors?

That's a lovely collection ! I've still got mine in the loft somewhere, mostly 1970's rock and heavy metal with a couple of the coloured vinyl limited editions that were popular back then. I've even got the first album I ever bought, a slightly uncommon copy of Hawkwind's "Warrior at the Edge of Time" were the cover folds out to make a shield. Does anyone remember 78's ? My grandparents and parents had them, although by the time I started buying LP's they were being phased out.

I think vinyl has a great future. The sound quality is massively better than any music you can get online or in digital formats where the files are compressed and lose the finer details. I can also see it coming back for long-term archival use. It lasts far longer than data recorded electromagnetically on most digital media. Floppy disks and cassettes are already fading into nothingness.

Rock and heavy metal can also come, no worries! :D It is just that we have classical music haha.

Oh, you do have a great experience regarding vinyl records. And I think and hope you are right, that it does have a future. If quality can win over quantity and other media, then vinyl is not lost! Thank you for your opinion, I appreciate your words and also looking forward to seeing your collection if you find it! :)
