Hello Hive and Hive Open Mic family, I hope you are doing great and that this weekend is full of blessings for each of you and your loved ones, I am very happy to come to rock with fury once again with a song that I never get tired of listening to day and night.\r\n\r\nBut before I get into the subject, I really connected quickly with the theme as it immediately came to my mind rock and music itself. On my dad's side of the family, there are musicians, poets, writers, there are artistic qualities that have passed from generation to generation. My dad in his adolescence wanted to study concert guitar, his inspiration was mainly Paco de Lucia, one of the best Spanish flamenco guitarists in history and as he was inspecting music, he received lessons from good guitarists here in Colombia and then he was inclined to want to be part of a trio like Los Panchos. He managed to play in a group and learn a little more about stage presence and classical guitar skills, plus he still plays those songs as if he was young and listening to him when he wants to play is great because it brings back a lot of memories of my grandmother as she loved my dad playing for her classics from her time.\r\n\r\nWhen I was a child I used to play a lot that I was a famous singer, in fact when a group of that time appeared on television programs, I fantasized about doing that, however I always thought it was a kid's thing. In my adolescence I always wanted to be an engineer and video game creator and when I finished high school, all that changed, then I realized that I wanted to be a psychologist. The most ironic thing is that in my early college years I had a lot of influence of rock and metal and when they did music festivals at the university, there were amazing rock bands and that's when I thought, I love this. At the moment that curiosity awoke more I asked my dad to teach me how to play guitar; he taught me major chords, minor chords, seventh chords, ninth chords, etc, however, he focused a lot on the music he liked but I needed to go beyond that.\r\n\r\nThat's how I started taking lessons at an academic level and learning also on my own, until I bought after graduating and with my first salary, my first electric guitar which is the one I use in this presentation, oh but I forgot, my dad had previously given me my first acoustic guitar which I still have and the one he uses to play when he is inspired. From this point on, I learned to play more and I fulfilled my dream (because unconsciously It was) of having a rock band which I have mentioned in many posts here and in the TBT community called Teor\u00eda Cero, with which I stepped on the most important stages of the city where I lived in Venezuela before moving here. I wanted to do this review because the theme perfectly describes the DNA I carry from a family involved in the art of writing, composing and making music, but do not think that only on my dad's side happened the above mentioned, my mom always liked the theater and was the first in her family to dabble in it as a teenager and after I was born, when I was 3 or 4 years old, if my memory serves me correctly, I remember seeing her act in a play that she herself directed with the moms and dads of the children who studied with me, I have pictures of it around hehe. I participated later in my adolescence in this same play, directed by her as an end of the year project in my 6th grade studies.\r\n\r\nI once commented that if I could make a rock/metal band again, it would be gothic style since I love that genre and more when it also focuses on the industrial genre. For this reason I chose one of my favorite bands that I never get tired of listening to; some time ago I have played songs from them here in Hive and on the eve of the release of their new album called Pathways, today I bring you a guitar cover of the first single recently released titled Sleep Tonight, this wonderful band I am talking about is called The Birthday Massacre. I must confess that I was waiting for a new album from them and they did it in the best way, because this song defines the band at every level; their dark style, with creepy synthesizers and beastly guitar riffs, is what has always caught my attention.\r\n\r\nI've been talking a bit long but it's the same emotion of rocking, so friends and music lovers I thank you in advance for joining me and I ask you to get comfortable so that your ears vibrate to the maximum with my participation for week 258 of Hive Open Mic. Hola familia de Hive y del Hive Open Mic, espero que se encuentren muy bien y que este fin de semana est\u00e9 lleno de bendiciones para cada uno de ustedes y sus seres amados, estoy muy contento de venir a rockear con furia una vez m\u00e1s con una canci\u00f3n que no me canso de escuchar d\u00eda y noche.

Pero antes de entrar en materia, les comento que de verdad conect\u00e9 r\u00e1pido con la tem\u00e1tica ya que inmediatamente vino a mi mente el rock y la m\u00fasica en s\u00ed. Por el lado de la familia de mi pap\u00e1, hay m\u00fasicos, poetas, escritores, hay cualidades art\u00edsticas que han pasado de generaci\u00f3n en generaci\u00f3n. Mi pap\u00e1 en su adolescencia quiso estudiar guitarra de concierto, su inspiraci\u00f3n principalmente era Paco de Luc\u00eda, uno de los mejores guitarristas espa\u00f1oles de flamenco de la historia y a medida que iba inspeccionando en la m\u00fasica, recibi\u00f3 clases de buenos guitarristas ac\u00e1 en Colombia y luego se inclin\u00f3 por querer ser parte de un tr\u00edo como Los Panchos. Logr\u00f3 tocar en un grupo y aprender un poco m\u00e1s de la presencia en tarima y la destreza en la guitarra cl\u00e1sica, adem\u00e1s que todav\u00eda toca esas canciones como si estuviera joven y escucharlo cuando quiere tocar es genial porque me trae muchos recuerdos de mi abuela ya que ella amaba que mi pap\u00e1 tocara para ella cl\u00e1sicos de su \u00e9poca.

Yo de peque\u00f1o jugaba mucho que era un cantante famoso, de hecho cuando alg\u00fan grupo de esa \u00e9poca se presentaba en programas de televisi\u00f3n, yo fantaseaba con hacer eso, sin embargo siempre pens\u00e9 que era cosa de ni\u00f1os. En mi adolescencia siempre quise ser ingeniero y creador de videojuegos y al finalizar mi secundaria, todo eso cambio, ah\u00ed me di cuenta que quer\u00eda ser psic\u00f3logo. Lo m\u00e1s ir\u00f3nico del asunto es que en mi inicio en la universidad tuve mucha influencia de rock y metal y es que cuando hac\u00edan festivales de m\u00fasica dentro de la universidad, se presentaban bandas de rock incre\u00edbles y fue ah\u00ed cuando pens\u00e9, esto me encanta. En el momento que esa curiosidad despert\u00f3 m\u00e1s le ped\u00ed a mi pap\u00e1 que me ense\u00f1ara a tocar guitarra; me ense\u00f1\u00f3 los acordes mayores, menores, acordes s\u00e9ptimos, novenos, etc, sin embargo, \u00e9l se enfocaba mucho en la m\u00fasica que le gustaba pero yo necesitaba ir m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de eso.

As\u00ed fue como empec\u00e9 a recibir clases a nivel acad\u00e9mico y a aprender tambi\u00e9n por mi cuenta, hasta comprar luego de graduado y con mi primer salario, mi primera guitarra el\u00e9ctrica que es la que uso en esta presentaci\u00f3n, ah pero lo olvidaba, mi pap\u00e1 previamente me hab\u00eda regalado mi primera guitarra ac\u00fastica que todav\u00eda conservo y la que \u00e9l utiliza para tocar cuando est\u00e1 inspirado. A partir de este punto, aprend\u00ed a tocar m\u00e1s y cumpl\u00ed mi sue\u00f1o (porque inconscientemente lo era) de tener una banda de rock la cual he mencionado en muchos posts aqu\u00ed y en la comunidad TBT llamada Teor\u00eda Cero, con la cual pis\u00e9 las tarimas m\u00e1s importantes de la ciudad donde viv\u00eda en Venezuela antes de mudarme para ac\u00e1. Les quise hacer esta rese\u00f1a porque la tem\u00e1tica describe perfectamente el ADN que llevo de una familia involucrada en el arte de escribir, componer y hacer m\u00fasica, pero no crean que solo por el lado de mi pap\u00e1 ocurr\u00eda lo antes mencionado, mi mam\u00e1 siempre le gust\u00f3 el teatro y fue la primera de su familia en incursionar en ello de adolescente y luego de yo nacer, cuando ten\u00eda 3 o 4 a\u00f1os, si mi memoria no falla, recuerdo haberla visto actuar en una obra de teatro que ella misma dirigi\u00f3 con las mam\u00e1s y papas de los ni\u00f1os que estudiaban conmigo, tengo fotos de ello por ah\u00ed jeje. Yo particip\u00e9 luego en mi adolescencia en esta misma obra, dirigida por ella como proyecto de fin de a\u00f1o en mis estudios de 6to grado de primaria.

Una vez coment\u00e9 que si pudiera hacer una banda de rock/metal nuevamente, ser\u00eda de estilo g\u00f3tico ya que amo ese g\u00e9nero y m\u00e1s cuando se enfoca tambi\u00e9n en el g\u00e9nero industrial. Por este motivo eleg\u00ed una de mis bandas favoritas y que no me canso de escuchar; tiempo atr\u00e1s he tocado canciones de ellos aqu\u00ed en Hive y en v\u00edsperas del lanzamiento de su nuevo disco llamado Pathways, hoy les traigo un guitar cover del primer sencillo lanzado recientemente titulado Sleep Tonight, esta maravillosa banda de la cual les hablo se llama The Birthday Massacre. Debo confesarles que esperaba un nuevo disco de ellos y lo hicieron de la mejor forma, porque esta canci\u00f3n define a la banda a todo nivel; su estilo oscuro, con sintetizadores bien espeluznantes y unos bestiales riffs en la guitarra, es lo que siempre me ha atrapado de ellos.

Me he extendido un poco habl\u00e1ndoles pero es la misma emoci\u00f3n de rockear, as\u00ed que amigas y amigos amantes de la m\u00fasica les doy gracias de antemano por acompa\u00f1arme y les pido que se pongan bien c\u00f3modos para que sus o\u00eddos vibren al m\u00e1ximo con mi participaci\u00f3n para la semana 258 del Hive Open Mic.
