Back on #TTT to bring you with me on another live music adventure! I usually post #thoughtfuldailypost (@Wesphilbin waves the @thoughtfulposts flag) with my tunes and this time, they are my thoughts ABOUT the tunes.

Sloan!

Tonight's show is at the London Music Hall which you might recall from my last live music adventure with Big Sugar This time, I am back again with my little one for a show with one of her favourites! Featuring Canadian rockers Sloan

This tour was to celebrate their 14th studio album Based on the Best Seller

I know them mainly for their songs from the 90s and early 2000's but Dream Destroyer from the new album will give you an idea what they are up to now.

Pre-Show Festivities

Wanting to start the evening early and buy at least 1 beer that is not $14 at the venue, I like to hit a pub or restaurant before the show. We looked for a different spot from our favourite and stumbled upon a bistro that featured dosa! That and a frosty one were a perfect warm up for the show.

Lights, Camera, ACTION!

The anticipation built from the sold out crowd as the smoke machine poured fog onto the stage as the graphics built the ambiance.

The guys hit the stage and we had a great view of the action the the left near the front. Whether it was their classic tunes or the newer ones, they played their straight up rock with an eclectic nerdy touch and great harmony vocals.

Money City Maniacs is one of those classic hits that might have made it onto your radar back in the day if you were into the style.

Neat view from the upper level stage right looking down from above.

Quite the crowd for this retro rock act and it was great to hear everyone sing along and cheer so loudly for the hits.

I have a personal connection with the band having played hockey with Chris for a couple decades. Funny I have seen him perform many times at the yearly Hootenanny that is coming up, and hung out quite a few times but I have never heard the band live except one time they were playing live music at an arena over a hockey game we were playing.

Made it a little more special for my little fan to get a picture with Chris after the show when we hung around to say hello.

To bring it full circle, here is my favourite Sloan song, The Good In Everyone from 1996, played just this year at another show about an hour drive from London Music Hall. Still good though the recording is a little rough ;)

All in all, it was a great show! Neat to check another classic Canadian band off my list and experience the full show for the first time a couple decades later. Even more special is fertilizing the love for music with the next generation and even making that personal connection with the band for a new fan!

Thanks for joining me on another live music adventure!

@zekepickleman...

Firstly... Love your way for still waving the Thoughtful Daily Post Flag! Life has been life, these past few years. So I've had to focus more on the "out there" than the "in here". Now then... this post gave me flashbacks of when I took my son to see his first concert, Rush R40, which was their last. Bitter sweet memories. But that's life, eh? Looks like you two had a great time! Also... my first time hearing this band. So, thank you for that as well!! Much love your way, brother...

Oh I didn't know them, but they sound good... I like that's not too much crowded, it's "alright" crowded so everyone can enjoy it, it looks a very nice event in the end

Ya man. Apparently it was sold out but seemed plenty of room to move but a solid crowd experience even the guys seemed to enjoy.

I've heard of this band, but I've never actually listened to them. This is a really great concert review. Thanks for sharing.
