Beyond The Looking Glass - Words of the Unseen - Chapter 13

Beyond The Looking Glass is the second book in the Unseen series, a story that came to me from the other side. A story where I thought I was just the narrator until I heard the Words of the Unseen.
This second story goes beyond time and place and mixes the long ago with the here and now. Because history keeps repeating, until we learn and do something about it.
Beyond The Looking Glass - Words of the Unseen - Chapter 13
She takes a last sip and leaves, I follow in amazement.
I'm always impressed by those who can say a lot with few words, Sei had just said more in two sentences than I've told her about myself since we met up.
Instead of asking further questions, I draw lessons from my thoughts.
Maybe it's better if I tell her things instead of asking them.
She reminds me a bit of Cabilah before we freed her.
Maybe I should just start there.
"It was Sei, wasn't it?"
She nods, and I again see the lady in her.
Why do I find it so difficult to estimate her summers, itยดs as if time keeps jumping forth and back when I look at her.
"I think this walking is going to take quite a while, what do you think; it's time for a travel story, right?" She nods and I see the corners of her mouth curl slightly. I think that she thinks I understood the message, maybe that is even the case.
"I've been down this road before, with two good friends and going the other way. A boy not much younger or even older than you and a one-eyed giant. He was almost twice my size."
She looks up at me, and while I thought the giant had caught her attention she says "Was?"
"Yes, unfortunately, he was. But without him, I wouldn't be here. In life, the things that happen, with us, and around us, are like little cogs that set wheels in motion. Without that motion, we will not get where we are supposed to be going."
She nods in understanding, and I feel a little impressed.
"We found a young woman who was being held against her will, and eventually we freed her with some money and a trick. If we had not come across her, I would probably have died in a wooden cage on a cold mountain pass."
"Life may seem like a random series of events. It is not. Every event has a cause and an effect. Every choice creates new paths, we cannot decide, only adjust a little her and there, and even that can have enormous consequences."
Sei giggles, "Well, and you're definitely a teacher."
It doesn't even sound like a question, and I burst out laughing.
"Is it that obvious?"
"Obviwhat? Yes, you talk like a teacher and you move your arms like you're standing in front of a group while you talk."
I think this little girl is amazing, she has been hearing and seeing for thirteen summers, but her giggling and choice of words are pre-pubescent.
I take it in again and then I think I see what also became clear to me on the journey with Numico. Not again, but it seems as if history will repeat itself again. Once again I am traveling with a young person who is actually older and wiser than myself.
I continue with my story, "That young woman, she found her brother on that mountain pass that would otherwise have been the end of me. Years earlier, they had lost sight of each other when soldiers destroyed their village."
It's that I happen to be walking a step behind Sei otherwise I would not have noticed, but it seems like a shiver ran down her spine.
"Cabilah managed to flee to her uncle who lived in the forest far from their village, her brother was captured and grew up as a soldier. He did well as a soldier as he was the leader of those who captured us."
Her eyes seem even bigger than they normal when she looks at me: "Why did those soldiers capture you, you are big, why didn't they kill you right away?"
Once again the few words coming from her lips tell more stories than everything I have just said.
โWe were looking for the boss of the world, a man they call the Sikh. He is also their boss, they couldn't kill us without knowing who we were, how many of us there were, and why we were looking for him."
"So not all soldiers are equally murderous?" she whispers while staring at the ground.
Could it be, could she also have encountered those crazy hordes of bloodthirsty retards with their killing machines in dog form? That would explain a lot.
