From the life of an independent game dev... 5:00 a.m. - 6:07 a.m.

Me, workaholic. @lorddiablo, one of @brobang's most kick-ass players.

5:00 a.m.: I actually wanted to be in bed for hours, but somehow I'm not. The game launcher for the main game needs to be integrated. Okay, but then you decide to close your eyes for at least 3 hours because you have a physically demanding appointment at 9:00 a.m..

5:18 a.m.: The computers are finally switched off. And you always notice afterwards: that sound, are those my fans that sound like an industrial plant? Never mind... Quiet at last... And you're in the bathroom, less than 2 minutes away from the bedroom. A player of your own game is texting. My cell phone in hand (Paul the media junkie), I see: Discord. @lorddiablo. The first lines that the preview shows me:

I am here now and I have a very bad news for you, because I think I have broke the game! 😥

Of course(!) I take care of things related to my game. So either I'm there for my game or I'm not. In my role, I always have to be at the start when I'm needed. So Discord is opened on my cell phone...

In a sense:

He : Paul... I've just earned over 90000 points in almost an hour of play... can it be that...

Me : I start laughing out loud and think to myself “What's going on here?” I thought I had made the game more difficult with the last update! The first answer came from me via voice message, because I didn't want to type anymore. Especially not on my cell phone...

No, not a bug. He just played so far & long that the program code is hardly prepared for such numbers.

5:22 a.m.: The computer fans are whirring happily again. Me too. Who laughs, wins!

6:07 a.m.: After almost an hour of discussing what exactly has happened, it's clear that the game needs a major update. Fortunately, I was able to consult with @lorddiablo about what could be done to make the game not too difficult for inexperienced players, but to limit top players...

Summa summarum:

It's not a bug. Anyone as badass as @lorddiablo can earn that many points (and more...), but:

Be prepared: there will be an update on the next event.

6:07 a.m.... At 9:00 I'm supposed to cut down trees. Sleep? 2 hours? A joke... Hivian? Hivian! Write article, take article picture, be Hivian. Chop down trees at 9, then take a nap (I'll probably actually need it at some point...) and then I can get on with it. Prepare the Bro Bang update for next week and then the launcher for the main game...

Sick...

He still said:

Oh Paul, if I would knew that I would wait for you to get a good night sleep and not to worry about this!

My answer to this:

No, nooooooo problem! That is part of my job! And I am happy to have exactly this one!
