AFRI-TUNES WEEK 166 || ADEKUNLE GOLD - ORENTE (COVER) || BY @WEALTHWESS
Hello, Afri-tunes community, it’s your boy @wealthwess and i’m excited to be here today to share with you a song that caught me off guard in the last second of me contemplating on which song to present as my entry for this week 166 of our events and that’s when i got to listen to the evergreen song my Adekunle Gold and the song was titled Orente.
Although, i already had in mind i’ll be making a cover of a song from Adekunle Gold album titled Gold but it wasn’t Orente i was going for it another song entirely, but funny enough i made a mistake by pressing play on Orente and that’s when i changed my mind because it was still so good to the ears as if it’s a brand new song. Adekunle Gold is an inspiration to me and maybe other upcoming artist at our region here because his music career didn’t kickoff at early ages as other artists.
In Adekunle Gold case it was so late in his 20’s if not early 30’s already because he titled his second album About 30 to tell us his not a kid anymore, i just like the fact he started making wave in the music industry late but kept on with consistency, dropping hits songs, worked even harder until he got his flowers he deserved by winning an Headies award and many other accolades that follows.
Now, let’s talking about “Orente” which is a yoruba word that can be translated to a "good wife" or "virtuous woman" in English. It is often used to describe a woman who is loyal, caring, and morally upright, embodying the qualities of an ideal partner or spouse. So, from the translation you can already understand what the song is all about.
In conclusion, Orente is a beautiful love song for a beautiful, yet loyal, caring and morally upright woman, a woman in a million which i believe still exists even though they might be rare to find nowadays and I’m talking all over the world. That said, i hope you’ll like and accept this my cover for this week’s entry, enjoy.
