MY BEST STAGE MOMENT

There would have been so many stories to share, so much so that I may not be able to exhaust all that should be said, but the fact that I am never good at keeping pictures and videos limits me. But I still have something to share; an event that happen in my Church. I would not really call it a Music Festival, but music was no doubt part of the celebration, and thus it seems to be fit for this week's prompt.

It was our end-of-year party held by St. Anthony Parish Youth. Being a member of the Parish Youth, I was obliged to be present at the gathering. At about 7 pm, we kicked off our celebrations. Having been disappointed by our DJ, it seemed like it would be the worst end of the party we would ever have, but it eventually was not. I would not bore you with the story of how the entire party went and how we eventually were able to end up with a beautiful celebration. On this note, I shall be streamlining this post to the musical part of that very celebration.

As part of the programme for the day, it had been stated that there would be time for music performances. Prior to the day, I had given my name for performance, and that ended up being my best stage performance ever. Coming up on stage, most were wondering what I could do, except for a few; very few who knew how diversified I could be when it comes to music. Many had always known me to be the choir master of the Parish, and it was taken for granted that I could only deal with choral music. It was kind of a surprise that I would be performing on stage alone. It was the first of its kind.

At first, I began with an original song; a gospel song, but I realised at the end of it all that my audience were not moved. I had to switch to another song, something more suitable for the event. The first song that came to mind was "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran. At the beginning of the song, the screaming that came from the audience kind of gave me goosebumps; I had never experienced such in my entire life.

To cut the long story short, it ended up becoming the best performance I have ever pulled off. After performing "Perfect", I raised "Mama" by Mayorkun, and yet it boomed. The entire crowd sang along with me; the feeling was like that of a superstar. For the first time ever, I felt like I was a superstar ☺️. In appreciation, people gave me money; it was not much, but it meant a lot to me. At the end of the day, I was able to not just go home with the best feeling ever, but with a sum of five thousand naira.

The truth is that the event was not particularly a music event, but for me it ended up being the climax of that event. And it was, most importantly, one of the best days of my life.
