Hey beautiful people, it’s another fresh week, and it’s a big testimony. Shout out to our moderators and all the community members of the Afritunes weekly contest. I am so grateful for how the system is created for us to learn musically, improve our skills, and know more African songs. My name is @annahnkot, the best daughter of her mother. Lolz.

I was thinking of a song to sing for this week, 182, and I tried to remember one, but my memory almost failed me. Then boom! A long-time viral song just came to mind, Uncle Suru by Jon Ogah featuring Adekunle Gold and Simi.

The song was released around 2015 or 2016 (I’m not too sure of the exact date), but the melody was superb, and their harmony was so smooth. I remember back then, we were trying to learn how to sing it, and little by little, I was able to grab it line by line. The song talks about someone who is still coming up musically, and I noticed that in the music industry, before, they didn’t easily help upcoming artists. You had to fight your way through. People used to say that if you got the opportunity to meet a big artist, they would announce you easily but it wasn’t really like that. Only a few superstars actually supported upcoming artists to grow in the industry.

So, the singer was pouring out what was bothering him musically and sharing his musical journey through this song.
