Hated by critics and dismissed as a novelty act, The Knack were a true rock and roll band. In the late '70s, so was Knack. Ultimately, this oversaturation leads to drowning. But for one brief, shining moment, they were victorious. But, contrary to legend, they did not achieve overnight success.

In the late 1970s, the Los Angeles music scene was full of energy, attitude, and great bands. Things progressed quickly and in 1978 the scene of punk bands like Germs, Bags and Weirdos began to give way to the Plimsouls, the Beat and the Knack.

In the late 1990s, guitarist and singer Doug Fieger fronted a band called Sky and recorded two albums for RCA. The album produced nothing and the group disbanded in 1974. While his former bandmates moved to Detroit, Fieger decided to stay in Los Angeles.

Over the next few years, he met veteran musicians who would become The Knack, including drummer Bruce Gary, bassist Prescott Niles, and guitarist Burton Averre. In 1977, Figer decided to write new music and asked them for help. These demos were not very well received, but players got involved and Knack was born.

In 1978, The Knack was consistently active in the Los Angeles club scene with a successful residency at the Whiskey and Troubadour. Finally, the record company called. Los Angeles said: "He said everyone is in Los Angeles. The gathering of Tom Petty and Stephen's big fans is still the same as Stephen and Bruce Springs. "Bruce Springsteen will be on stage on Friday night and he will have a contract for 14 albums on Monday," Fieger joked.

Despite being the number one single in 1979, "My Sharona" still evokes an impressive range of emotions today, from love and passion to hate and parody. "Weird Al" Yankovic's debut single was "My Bologna", which Cheech & Chong jokingly called "My Bologna". that. In "The Next Movie" it's called "My Shell." Knack never recovered from the backlash.
