Three Tune Tuesday ~ June Carter Cash ~ Birthday Girl #96

Welcome to my #TTT #ThreeTuneTuesday entry!

Good afternoon to all music lovers!

Another Tuesday, three more picks for this day dedicated especially to music—and in my case, this marks the 96th edition of this series. It’s amazing how something that started so recently has already lasted 96 weeks!

How’s your week been so far? I’ve had some extra work, but nothing I can’t handle...

So far, tomorrow is the only day that marks the middle of the week, but just the fact that I went to bed early yesterday—around 10 p.m.—and didn’t eat anything in the three hours before I went to sleep resulted in a restful and refreshing night’s sleep… In fact, I even managed to wake up right when my first alarm went off. Yes, I’m one of those annoying people who sets more than one morning alarm to wake up. I rarely sleep past the first alarm, but on previous nights—combined with fatigue, heavy dinners, and the fact that I’d go to sleep right after eating my last meal of the day—I’d end up with a night that I thought was more restful, but in reality, I’d wake up with less energy and focus. In my case, following a diet that includes a period of intermittent fasting—starting more than three hours before I go to bed—is practically essential for getting the most out of a restful night’s sleep and starting the new day with energy!

But let’s talk about music—that’s why this community exists, isn’t it?

As I usually do, today I opened Google to look up the list of artists who are celebrating another birthday today. Unfortunately, the great artist I was going to tell you about passed away in 2003 at the age of 73. Born in Virginia, USA, in 1929, Valerie June Carter—as she was known by the name she was given at birth—was a prominent American country music artist, author, songwriter, and even a comedian. A five-time winner of the world’s most prestigious music award, the Grammy, June was a member of the band known as the “Carter Family” and was the second wife of the famous Johnny Cash.

Before her marriage, she always went by the name June Carter, which she continued to use for her compositions.

She was always known for her vocal talents, as well as her skills as a dancer, actress, comedian, and even philanthropist.

As a singer, she excelled in her solo career as well as in the group she formed with her family and, later, with her husband. With an unmistakable voice—featuring a unique timbre, tone, and presence—her songs have become true classics of American popular music. They are still played today by many who are nostalgic for the past.

I wasn’t particularly familiar with this artist, but just as in many other posts I’ve made in the past—with the same goal of highlighting the day’s birthday celebrant of my choice, even though there were other options on the list of today’s birthday celebrants—I chose June because I knew so little about her work.

These songs really lifted my spirits and gave me the courage to face the rest of the week.

I hope you also enjoyed my selection, and that you took a trip down memory lane to the sound of these three songs!
