West Africa does not seem to me to be completely unaffected.

Whoever experiences Bai Kamara live and concentrates on the lyrics (as well as the music) during the slow, thought-provoking songs, will not be able to let go the fascination of the messages.
The son of a diplomat couple, Bai Kamara was born in Sierra Leone on 2 December 1966 and grew up in Brussels. Because of the linguistic legacy of England as a cruel colonial master, the child was sent to school in Manchester.

Wer Bai Kamara einmal live erlebt und sich bei den langsamen, nachdenklich stimmenden Liedern auch (neben der Musik) auf den Text konzentriert, der wird so schnell nicht mehr losgelassen, von der Faszination der Botschaften.
Am 2. Dezember 1966 in Sierra Leone geboren, wuchs Bai Kamara als Spross eines Diplomaten-Ehepaars in Brüssel auf. Aufgrund der sprachlichen Hinterlassenschaft Englands, als grausame Kolonialherren, wurde der Sprössling nach Manchester zur schulischen Ausbildung geschickt.

But in 1990, Bai Kamara returned to Belgium to devote himself completely to what he was so passionate about. Composing, producing and practising — note for note and almost always with the sad blues in his luggage. On stage or in the studio, never completely alone, but always with like-minded people.

Doch kehrte Bai Kamara 1990 nach Belgien zurück, um sich ganz und gar dem widmen zu können, was seine Leidenschaft ausmacht. Komponieren, produzieren und praktizieren – Note für Note und fast immer mit dem traurigen Blues im Gepäck. Nie vollkommen allein, sondern stets mit Gleichgesinnten auf der Bühne oder im Studio.

Among them are Habib Koité, Cassandra Wilson, Rokia Traoré and Youssou N'Dour. As a multi-instrumentalist and composer, he has demonstrated his musical sensibility not only with the albums 'Living Room', 'Urban Gipsy', 'Disposable Society', 'This Is Home' and 'Mystical Survivors', but also as the man responsible for various film soundtracks.

Dazu zählen dann Habib Koité, Cassandra Wilson, Rokia Traoré und Youssou N'Dour. Als Multiinstrumentalist und Komponist bewies er bislang sein musikalisches Feingefühl nicht nur mit den bislang erschienen Alben “Living Room”, “Urban Gipsy”, “Disposable Society”, “This Is Home” und “Mystical Survivors”, sondern auch als Verantwortlicher für verschiedenste Filmmusiken.

About his latest project “Salone”, Bai Kamara himself says: “My musical and artistic journey has now led me to this decisive phase of my career, in which the project “Salone” (which means Sierra Leone in the Sri Lankan language) finally allows me to explore my African roots and in particular those of my country of origin, Sierra Leone, and to live them out musically."*

Über sein neustes Projekt “Salone” sagt Bai Kamara selbst: »Meine musikalische und künstlerische Reise hat mich nun zu dieser entscheidenden Phase meiner Karriere geführt, in der das Projekt "Salone" (was in der Kriosprache Sierra Leone bedeutet) es mir nun endlich ermöglicht, meine afrikanischen Wurzeln und insbesondere die meines Herkunftslandes Sierra Leone zu erforschen und musikalisch auch auszuleben.«

He continues: “Never before have I had the strength to do it in this way. Salone” is also the title of my new album, which is deeply rooted in blues and roots music. And The Voodoo Sniffers is the name of my new band, with whom I can also realise this project live”.
There is nothing more to add to this. From now on it's all about enjoying the music!

Dazu fügt er an: »Nie zuvor hatte ich die Kraft, dies in dieser Form zu tun. Somit ist „Salone“ auch der Titel meines neuen Albums, das tief im Blues und in der Roots-Musik verwurzelt ist. Und The Voodoo Sniffers ist der Name meiner neuen Band, mit der ich dieses Projekt auch live umsetzen kann.«
