Tiësto - really best DJ of the last 20 years?

Ich schreibe normal wenig negatives oder kritisiere meine Musik Kollegen - ich mag den Kollegen sogar, aber wenn ich ich lese, dass er der beste DJ der letzten 20 Jahre sein sollte stellen sich mir meine Rückenhaare auf - er kriegt die Massen zum Tanzen, aber ansonsten nix Besonderes, nix im Vergleich zu Sven, Marc oder Charlotte oder sehe ich das zu kritisch? Klar kommerziell macht er alles richtig, aber best DJ ist was anderes - Never him

A star from the Euro Trance / Dance scene

Never been a superfan - he was part of the commercial scene sometimes (fair enough) - sold a lot, been key DJ on events - the good thing, when you see him play you realize he is not just a product - he can play with audience and hit them with awesome sounds.

So who is Tiësto?

One of many Dutch DJs - similar to Armin - sounds are good for a party night out, it is not perfect if you grew up with real Techno and Trance - a bit too commercial but all fine - these guys need to earn money for their job.

Tiësto was born as Tijs Michiel Verwest - he gained a lot traction on his remixes and live performances. Even folks in Germany like his music - i see him (like Armin) a bit more critical - the sounds are good to dance but nothing new or special - just typical EDM Trance Sounds many can compile / mix.

When I saw that he was voted "The Greatest DJ of All Time" by Mix magazine in a 2010/2011 and by DJ Mag readers as the "best DJ of the last 20 years" I have to say - that is bollocks - he is ok, good producer, good live artist - but best DJ? That is too much - when you see younger acts like Charlotte de Witte from Belgium or the old farts from Germany such as Sven Väth you are surprised or shocked that "Tiësto" is called best DJ of the last 20 years.

However - not ranting in music community

But I need to be honest - he is ok, he drives scommunity to dance, he drives revenue for event companies hence he does a great job - but he is not the best DJ of the last 20 years.
