ThreeTuneTuesday: Thru the city
Hello music lovers! π΅π§π΅
I'm back in the #threetunetuesday thread started by @ablaze.
I'd like to introduce a great musician who I've been following for a long time but only got worldwide recognition when his YouTube videos went viral.
Ophir Kutiel, known in the music world as Kutiman, is an Israeli multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, dee-jay, and director. He studied jazz at the Rimon Music College, but since that wasn't enough he started exploring other sounds including Afrobeat, funk, reggae, and groove which he has incorporated into his work.
He signed his first contract with a German publishing house Melting Pot Music where he also realized his first album "Kutiman" in 2008. The album immediately attracted the attention of music critics and the influential music magazine Pitchfork gave him a very high rating.
They wrote:
This Israeli one-man band has created a fantastic, head-spinning debut album, a psyched-up groove monster that can't decide between vintage and modern and instead just has it both ways.
He currently has on Bandcamp 32 record releases, remixes, and live recordings.
Well, I mentioned at the beginning that he actually became globally known for directing/producing "Thru The City". The project features videos showing the pulse and sights of cities and features guest appearances by local musicians. These music videos went viral and are still getting high viewership.
No doubt not only because of the images, but above all because of the music, which is in fact "world music", highly rhythmic, multicultural improvisation, a mix of different influences and genres, and it delves into the history of each city featured.
I'll start with Tel Aviv, the first city in the series.
Kutiman - Mix Tel Aviv
The next city is Hamburg.
Among others, there is another band I like very much - Meute.
Kutiman - Mix Hamburg

And here's a city from the Far East
Kutiman - Thru Tokyo
If you're intrigued by what you've seen and heard, you can take a look at Mix Krakow, Mix Istanbul, in Mix Jerusalem.
Thank you for your attention!

Holy shit man!!!! Mix Tel Aviv is so so sooooo good, love the mixup of styles, an absolute feast for the ears and I know for sure the @stickupmusic boys are going to love this one, right time to listen to Hamburg and Toyko, looking forward to hearing where he goes with those city sounds.... Such a cool and original concept...
Ok, Hamburg very funky too, but Tel Aviv still the stand out, ok onto Toyko we go...
Also, great especially the videos to appreciate some culture and city vibes, but yep Tel Aviv the stand out winner.
