Three Tune Tuesday - Kim Gordon
Hello, music lovers! π΅
When I was reviewing my regular Friday (well, almost π) #newtunes posts, where I try to track new music and introduce it, I noticed that last year, the one I mentioned the most was Kim Gordon.
This was mainly because of her previous solo album, "The Collective," which was well received by music critics and the public and nominated for the 67th Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album and Best Performance of a Song (Bye, Bye).
It's only fitting that I introduce her a little bit.
Kim Gordon (who turns 72 this year) is best known as the co-founder, bassist, and singer of the New York alternative rock band Sonic Youth (1981-2011), a band that made a huge mark and impact over its 30-year career and redefined the evolution of guitar rock music.
After the split, Kim Gordon continued her musical career, collaborating with many musicians, exhibiting extensively as a visual artist in museums and art galleries worldwide, and playing roles in 15 movies.
She is also known for her rather scathing comments about her fellow artists, such as Lana Del Rey and Courtney Love...
Since we are dealing with music here and not with slander, here's my pick.
Kim Gordon - Bye Bye
As I mentioned, the song "Bye, Bye" is from the latest album, "The Collective," which was nominated for last year's Grammy Award for Best Music Performance. This clip is from the Jimmy Kimmel Live show.
I will say this - an old mum who makes industrial trap bangers and looks very good for her years.
Free Kitten - Teenie Weenie Boppie
Free Kitten is a band she founded with Julia Cafritz, a member of the former Pussy Galore cult, where Jon Spencer also trained. The band has performed sporadically since 1992, releasing four albums and about five singles.
The song "Teenie Weenie Boopie" covers Serge Gainsbourg's 1960s hit, released on Sentimental Education in 1997.
Kim Gordon, DJ Olive, and Ikue Mori - International Spy
The song "International Spy" is a collaboration between Kim, American DJ and producer Olive, and Japanese avant-garde electronic drummer and composer Ikue Mori on the 2000 album SYR5.
Ultra abstract, experimental, and noise improvisation.
And now a bonus.
Sonic Youth - Silver Rocket
The song Silver Rocket is from Sonic Youth's fifth album, Daydream Nations, released in 1988. The album was recognized as one of the greatest rock albums of all time and was selected by the Library of Congress to be preserved in the National Recording Registry in 2005.
That's all for today, thank you for your attention.

This week are new musical options as always. I like the first one, the rhythm feels good and fits my taste. It's a 100 for that one.
I'll go with Bye Bye.
Yes, it's in the style of modern music.

It is said that the metal rhythm is somewhat aggressive, I do not believe it, it depends on the perspective, I liked the first video, her voice is beautiful and the rhythm is not offensive or strong at all, I think that some people put things in their heads that do not exist and the worst thing is that they believe them.
I wish you a happy day
Depending on perspective, of course, but in metal, you have different subgenres - heavy, black, death, scream, etc...
Silver Rocket, I love this song and I love Sonic Youth, although I don't listen to them as much as I used to, but you made me remember a good era of my adolescence. I haven't listened much to Kim Gordon, but I'll give them a chance after listening to your recommendations, of which I only knew Bye Bye. Good sleecion my friend, happy to read you π
I'm glad you like the content. I listened to Sonic Youth when I was younger, but I still listen to them when I want some guitar sounds; I don't mean solos here.
I think Kim is more of an artist than a musician.
