Karol G ha tenido muchas colaboraciones exitosas. Como las que ha hecho con Shakira, Bad Bunny, J. Balvin, Maluma, Becky G, Ozuna, pero su colaboración con Nicki Minaj, La tusa, le abrió las puertas al mercado anglosajón. Aunque cabe destacar que, en el documental de Karol G, realizado por Netflix, ella dice que no le importa ser conocida solo en el mercado hispano, sabemos que el mercado anglosajón es muy importante para cualquier artista.

Otra canción de Karol G que me encanta es El barco. Esta pieza, una de las más suaves de su repertorio musical, supone una ruptura con lo que estamos acostumbrados a escuchar de esta cantante. Hay que decir que la propia Karol G ha repetido en numerosas ocasiones que, cuando compone sus canciones, le gusta jugar no solo con las letras, sino también con los sonidos, por lo que podemos encontrar temas de reguetón, pop y baladas en un mismo álbum.

Elegí la última canción porque pertenece al último álbum de la cantante, Papacito. Esta canción demuestra que Karol G está interesada en el mercado angloparlante, ya que es un merengue suave en inglés, aunque este álbum también incluye portugués, bachata, ballenato e incluso lambada. Según la propia cantante, este merengue es un homenaje al grupo venezolano Los Melódicos, por lo que cuando escucho esta pieza, no puedo evitar pensar en las fiestas de mi juventud.

Probablemente no seas un gran fan del reggaeton, como yo no lo era, pero debo confesar que vivir con mis sobrinas y estar en contacto con mis alumnos me ha hecho escuchar otros géneros musicales y añadir a una chica con talento a mi lista de cantantes favoritos. Cada vez que escucho sus canciones, no puedo evitar tararearlas y bailarlas como cualquier chica latinoamericana.

Three songs by Karol G
Hello, friends around the world! Hello, friends at Hive. I am very happy because today is Tuesday, the first Tuesday in August, and as we all know, on Tuesdays we listen to and share great music on this incredible platform.
For weeks now, I have been sharing with you the singers I most enjoy listening to. This selection is in no particular order, and the songs I have chosen may not be the most famous ones by these extraordinary women, but they are the ones I like the most.
This week we return with another Colombian, one who, despite her short international career, has already won many awards and the affection of the Latin American public. We will talk about and listen to Carolina Giraldo, better known as La bichota, la bebecita or the diva Karol G.
This Colombian singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur began her artistic career at a very young age, but it was in 2018, with her famous song ‘Secreto,’ a duet with her former partner Anuel AA, that she managed to reach the top of the international urban music charts. Let's listen to the beautiful Karol G.
Karol G has had many successful collaborations. Such as those with Shakira, Bad Bunny, J. Balvin, Maluma, Becky G, Ozuna, but her collaboration with Nicki Minaj, La tusa, opened the doors to the Anglo-Saxon market. I chose the last track because it belongs to the singer's latest album, Papacito. This song proves that Karol G is interested in the English-speaking market, as it is a soft merengue in English, although this album also features Portuguese, bachata, ballenato and even lambada. According to the singer herself, this merengue is a tribute to the Venezuelan group Los Melódicos, which is why when I listen to this piece, I can't help but think of my youth parties.
You're probably not a big fan of reggaeton, as I wasn't, but I must confess that living with my nieces and being in contact with my students has made me listen to other musical genres and add a talented girl to my list of favourite singers. Every time I hear her songs, I can't help but hum along and dance to them.
