ThreeTuneTuesday: Tres canciones de Karol G/ Three songs by Karol G

Three songs by Karol G
Hello, friends around the world! Hello, friends at Hive. I am very happy because today is Tuesday, the first Tuesday in August, and as we all know, on Tuesdays we listen to and share great music on this incredible platform.
For weeks now, I have been sharing with you the singers I most enjoy listening to. This selection is in no particular order, and the songs I have chosen may not be the most famous ones by these extraordinary women, but they are the ones I like the most.
This week we return with another Colombian, one who, despite her short international career, has already won many awards and the affection of the Latin American public. We will talk about and listen to Carolina Giraldo, better known as La bichota, la bebecita or the diva Karol G.
This Colombian singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur began her artistic career at a very young age, but it was in 2018, with her famous song ‘Secreto,’ a duet with her former partner Anuel AA, that she managed to reach the top of the international urban music charts. Let's listen to the beautiful Karol G.
Karol G has had many successful collaborations. Such as those with Shakira, Bad Bunny, J. Balvin, Maluma, Becky G, Ozuna, but her collaboration with Nicki Minaj, La tusa, opened the doors to the Anglo-Saxon market. Although, it should be noted that in Karol G's documentary, made by Netflix, she says she doesn't mind being known only in the Hispanic market, we know that the Anglo-Saxon market is very important for any artist.
Another song by Karol G that I love is El barco. This piece, one of the softest in her musical repertoire, is a departure from what we are used to hearing from this singer. It must be said that Karol G herself has repeated many times that when she is writing her songs, she likes to play not only with the lyrics but also with the sounds, which is why we can find reggaeton, pop, and ballad tracks on the same album.
I chose the last track because it belongs to the singer's latest album, Papacito. This song proves that Karol G is interested in the English-speaking market, as it is a soft merengue in English, although this album also features Portuguese, bachata, ballenato and even lambada. According to the singer herself, this merengue is a tribute to the Venezuelan group Los Melódicos, which is why when I listen to this piece, I can't help but think of my youth parties.
You're probably not a big fan of reggaeton, as I wasn't, but I must confess that living with my nieces and being in contact with my students has made me listen to other musical genres and add a talented girl to my list of favourite singers. Every time I hear her songs, I can't help but hum along and dance to them.

I love reggaeton and I think Karol G is a great singer and when she sings her Spanish is really clear. The last one is my favourite of these. A big musical hug Nancy :)
Really? Not everyone likes reggaeton. And I can understand why: sometimes the singers aren't very good and the lyrics can be superficial and crude. That's not the case with Karol G. I'm glad you liked it, Ed. Musical hugs 🫂🎶
Sometimes musical genres can be full of superficial and crude lyrics. But yes with Karol G she sings great and the lyrics are good too! I wonderful Wednesday reggaeton hug Nancy :)
