Can one kill a song by playing it too much? Yes, I did that a couple of times in my teens!
I cannot believe that I'm guilty of trying to do that now to a 2024 song! I have to swallow my words and admit that there are still some really good songs released today. For those who don't know, I'm a die-hard 70s gal. I rarely listen to the radio these days. COVID knocked the entertainment scene, and after the loss of my love, I rarely go out in the evenings, and generally don't keep up with the music of today.

Umm, I hear some of you asking, 'So how can she say there's no good music today?'

Well, that's until I heard the beautiful Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars song, Die with a Smile, at my sister-in-law's 60th birthday bash. I can relate to the words of the song - that was my wish too!

Lady Gaga never fails to amaze! When I first saw the trailer for A Star is Born, I did a double-take - could not believe that Ally, the girl-next-door, was played by Lady Gaga! A second double-take when I saw her in this song; this super-talented performer for sure knows how to transform!

I'm now also a fan of the super-talented American singer/songwriter Bruno Mars; his accolades don't stop there - versatile musician, record producer, dancer, and director. He plays guitar, piano, keyboards, drums, bass ukulele, and congas.

Regarded as a pop icon, he is known for his three-octave tenor vocal range, live performances, retro showmanship and musical versatility. He is accompanied by his band, the Hooligans.

The song Just the Way You was his debut solo single, and won him a Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance in 2011.

Many of Bruno's songs are about love. The ballad When I Was Your Man speaks of how he was to blame for losing his love, and a bittersweet hope that she'd find happiness.
