[Somewhere] In the world

One of the most interesting things about Hive is the way it connects people around the world in more meaningful ways than other social medias can, or have. I've spent my time here building relationships and engaging with people I'd never usually meet and have shared their lives to some degree and shared my own with them in return. It's pretty special.

This week, and with the world in mind, I wanted to share some music I like from other parts of the world.

The first is this cool group out of Germany who create lounge music and what's called nu jazz within the Electronica genre. There's strong tones of Latin, and of course jazz and soul, and it's really kind of funky and different. When I'm in the right mood this is easy to listen to. If you want to listen to another track from the group look up one called: Hip Hip Chin Chin.

Germany - Club Des Belugas Wearing Out My Shoes

Moving around the world to South Africa, we come to this rock outfit out of Johannesburg. They formed back in 2000 and since then the band has managed to break into other countries, Europe included probably due to their German manager. They have no presence here in Australia however fortunately a friend sent me this track a while ago and I've not looked back. Passionate and powerful is how I'd describe this one, and with a great video too. This is a great rock band to add to your collection, or at least investigate.

South Africa - Prime Circle Pretty Like the Sun

Changing it up again we're off to Denmark. I've not been there, my 2020 trip was cancelled due to the pandemic, but I'll be heading that way as soon as I can. In the meantime, there's this group and thankfully so; it's great music. There's a super cool video to go along with this lovely little track, images that every human on the planet should be able to relate to.

Denmark - Lukas Graham Love Someone

✳️ Here's a link to YouTube where you'll find all three in a single YouTube playlist.

Do you ever think about the way the Hive blockchain manages to reach around the world and connects people like you and I, people that might not normally connect, and allows us to interact in meaningful ways? Is there a track from another country that you particular like, if so what and why? Feel free to comment below if you'd like to, I always respond.

I love music of any kind and Hive has certainly allowed us to exchange ideas with people from all over the world. I don't just like pizza, I also like Italian music. Here is an excellent example:

Pizza is very likeable...and pizza eaten with Italian music playing just seems right. Right? 😆

Thanks for the track, I liked it a lot.

I do and I feel it is an interesting way to connect meaningfully with others. Social media tends to be too artificial for anything. We have the same kind of layers here, but the human part is not diminished as a product. So, it is a better way to connect with other people around the world. I can say I have interacted with almost every continent. I don't know if there's a Hiver in Antartica, but we could find out. The landscape photos there must be amazing!

By the way, the title of your post reminded me of this song:

I don't know if there's a Hiver in Antarctica, but we could find out

If there is, the poor bugger is probably very cold...and lonely.

What a great track that is...Damn it, had I known about it that would have been included in this post...matches the title perfectly.

Of course, that's a Venezuelan Cuatro playing Celtic music and some Bag Pipes Playing Venezuelan Music. A really interesting thing.

If there is, the poor bugger is probably very cold...and lonely.

Yes, very cold. 🤣

Maybe there is. I bet there are not reptilians because of the cold weather.

I do think about how it is cool that Hive connects us all. I think it can be very positive and it seems much more positive and meaningful than Web2 social media too.

As far as a track from another country. I like The Hu's This is Mongol. I think it is because one, I like the sound of Mongolian throat music. and also I have always liked the thought of maybe in another life I might have been a Mongolian warrior riding the plains. I really don't understand the language, but you don't have to to get the jest of it.

That's a legit track man, never heard before, or the band, but I'll be doing some investimigationing. Sometimes understanding the language isn't essential to the enjoyment of music. I listen to a lot of world music, a lot of French in particular, and whilst I speak it a little (emphasis on a little) I don't understand much of the words...the tone, mood and feeling comes through though, and the music itself.

Hive is an excellent place to meet people and cultures from different parts of the world, I particularly like to do this for a long time before entering Hive I made friends from different countries on other social networks, but Hive is better as far as we can meet More depth to people, knowing how a person writes their thoughts or how they share their countries and interests is part of their intimate life in Hive, it is like a window with greater access, in other networks what you write does not matter if you look good and that sucks.

mmm as for music that I like from other places, a few years ago I met a singer who was born in Moldova, until then I didn't know anything about that country but the girl's accent, her beautiful voice that pronounced unknown words but so harmoniously I loved it, along with his talent for the piano.

Also a few years ago I got to know the music of a girl band from Iceland who sing in their language and that captivated me, because I have a small obsession with Iceland, I always watch documentaries about the country and I love it.

I don't know any Australian band, could you recommend one?
talking about australia
One of my favorite singers made a song dedicated to his Australian girl in the middle of the pandemic because the US government would not let him travel there, when that song came out I was very moved, he shared on social networks all the impediments that the government put for the trip to Australia. The good news is that after a while the song came out, he was given permission to travel as a kind of exception.

You say it well in your first paragraph, we connect here with people we may never normally know or meet and it crosses over culture and class...all one needs to do is be open to meeting new people and then to engage a little. It's enjoyable and I've met some really nice people. (You included.)

Thanks for sharing some music, I listened to these tracks, which are all nice, and I'll be delving a little deeper into each when I have time. Thanks for getting involved in my post today and taking the time to share a few tracks that you like.

As far as Australian bands/singers...Google Missy Higgins, I think there might be something you like there. Maybe Powderfinger also.

Lukas Graham's Love Someone has a lot of bitter-sweet memories attached to it for me. Listened to that song so much, I started hearing it in my dreams. Lol
I didn't think you would know it but somehow I'm glad you do.

This Pretty Like The Sun is definitely going to one of my favorites. It's got a nice rhythm and the video is so sad but beautiful in a way, you know?

I also think that Hive is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I've met the most wonderful, caring, talented people that I never thought possible. And also the most hilarious. Yeah, can't forget that one. Hehe

It's a great track indeed. Cool video too.

Hive is one of the best things that has ever happened to me.

Hive has meant a lot of things to a lot of people and if used in the right way can be an enjoyable place to be, clearly you're finding that out for yourself.

There are times I sit at my work table and dream of meeting people across the world. The way Hive connects people is different, a genuine connection that created a unique bond even though we are all interacting million of miles away.

I do lots of foreign music, Westlife use to be one of my favorite. I learned their lyrics words for words in my early teenage day and till date, their songs still sounds great to me.

Ed Sheeran, Lukas Graham, and a few others.

It seems we like some of the same artists judging by your short list. Also, yeah Hive has brought connections I thought I'd never have. I'm not one to need a lot of people around, I keep my friends group very small and exclusive on purpose, but it's been enjoyable to make the acquaintance of some of you Hive folks.

The way HIVE has connected me has never been achieved by any other platform, I have been on two others. It's amazing how I can enjoy posts from people all over the world, despite the language difference, it can be done.

People from different cultures, different customs, different ideas and emotions and even sense of humour in various forms. It's so interesting and so challenging at the same time... I love it!

Connecting with these people is amazing, laughing together, crying together, understanding, learning, improving... it's great and it's so soul enhancing.

I liked all the songs, the last two the most, maybe I'm more sensitive today but they touched me.

I don't remember telling you, I love instrumental music, especially that which has strength and energy, I listen to it both for designing and for my long walks. It recharges my energy and motivates me and the electronic violin fascinates me, I love the violin.

There are many songs or music that I like, countless, I leave you one.

Do it! Do it! I think it would be hilarious to use international expressions as quotes. Although a lot is lost in translation. I have some funny stories about wrong pronunciation and foreign words. Certain of which come with an age restriction

A long time ago I did a couple posts about Australian slang, they seemed to go down pretty well. I guess the problem is always the risk of using something incorrectly.

I've always liked the word, lekker, since I found out about it fifteen years ago from a South African client. Used it ever since, on and off.

That's funny that you would share Lukas Graham. It just popped on my radar for a different reason the other day. I kind of forgot about it, and then I see this and it jogged my memory. That first band and style of music sounds like something I would totally love. I am definitely going to be digging into that more!

I'm glad you found something here that you liked and isn't it cool how music can sort of come and go and then be welcomed back. I'm fortunate enough to have had all of these tracks suggested to me by one person or another and I'm grateful for it.

Lounge blues carries a nice laid back feel to relax to, sound to reminds me of wooden panel smoke filled rooms quietly sipping a beer or wine.

Prime Circle an enjoyable band to listen to as background music, actually forgot they were from SA, hows that!

What a magical ballad by Lukas Graham, never heard of him so another to add to my list of most enjoyable!

Prime circle is one of my all time favourites! Love that they made your list. All of their songs are so passionate and full of meaning! They got me through some tough times and also made good times really special! Have seen them live a few times and they do not disappoint! I'm on love with ross' voice, the lead singer! He doesn't know so don't tell anyone!

They're a good band and one I listen to a lot, I'm glad you like them too. Passion and meaning, as you say is what they present through their music and that's a good thing. I'll not disclose your love for the lead singer's voice, it's our secret.
