"Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies," is how Aristotle described it, and John Lennon said, "love is the flower you've got to let grow," and I agree with both.

Love is a beautiful thing when felt honestly, truly and without selfishness and the emotion, love, felt between a couple can overcome many things if those two people are committed, steadfast and resolute. Love is about trust; trust in oneself to do the right thing because of and for that love, and trust in the other person - Without trust I don't believe true love is possible. Respect between a couple, for the other person and the feelings for them, is essential; with that, and a few other elements, love can thrive. Without it...love fractures.

Today I wanted to share three songs about love.

The first, called two, is a beautiful song about a man clearly deeply in love; it's powerful and passionate.

He says:

"Like a force to be reckoned with, a mighty ocean or a gentle kiss, I will love you with every single thing I have. Like a tidal wave we'll make a mess, or calm waters if that serves you best, I will love you without any strings attached."

The second is about love lost, a man reminiscing and asking, why we said goodbye and longing for a chance to reconnect and rediscover that love. Again, passionate.

He sings:

"I just had to call you, I had to hear your voice, and tell you I still love you and we still have a choice. You're sewn into the fabric, the pieces of my life and I just can't remember why we said goodbye."

Lastly is this really sweet song about a fellow trying to connect with a girl as he no longer wants to be single, a one man band. He talks about life together, the ease of it, how comfortable they would be and how together they can have a beautiful life.

He says:

"I wanna run down your wild dreams and I wanna chase every high with you, count every rip in these old jeans, we'll never learn how to sing the blues"

✳️ Here's a link to YouTube where you'll find all three in a single YouTube playlist.

I don't know how many songs there are about love, the good and bad of it, but it must be millions. I guess the tracks around the subject of love mirror real life though, the extremely beautiful and pure aspects of love and the sordid nature of it and what people are capable of; lies, disrespect and other such things. I wonder though, what does love between two people, romantic love, mean to you and has it been something that's provided value, pleasure, contentment and happiness or has it cut you, left you bleeding and distrustful of it?

Feel free to comment below, I would love to discover your thoughts and to engage with you.

When I read the title of the post, I remembered a song of a very famous Italian-Venezuelan singer, his name is Franco de vita, he has a song called

Now there are three of us.

I will quote part of the lyrics.

What happened?
Why this situation?
Is there an intruder between the two of us?
Don't you believe in my love?
Wherever you go you know I'll go

And meanwhile she was still silent
Hiding from me who knows what
Until with slow words
She said: We are three

Only eight months will pass
And a Third between us there will be

While I was looking for the exact lyrics of the song I am quoting, I managed to listen to each of the recommendations, and even though as you know I am not an English speaker, I can say that with time I have managed to understand some pronunciations, and what I heard I liked a lot.

Love is very complex, because it can be understood in many ways, even though love is something basic, feeling good with that person and knowing that the other person is also comfortable with you, is something as basic as love itself, well, that can be a very simple explanation from my point of view, but everyone can give it the connotation with which they feel more comfortable when expressing what they feel for love.

It's really difficult to define or clarify what love is as there's so many versions of it and it's quite situation-specific. What one couple see as love another may see differently, then there's love of children, parents, friends and so on...all different to the other.

I'm glad you like the tracks although I understand that your comprehension of the words is probably lost on you as your English is not very good. You seemed to pick up on the mood of it though.

Have a good week.

Yes, each one understands love in his or her own way.

In our home, we understand it very well, in the midst of the imperfections of each one.

I managed to understand and enjoy the songs. I looked up the lyrics in Spanish to help me.

I hope you have a good week.

Oh yeah, love is certainly the ability to see and accept imperfections, in ourselves and others.

That maths seems about right, there's two (sometimes more) people involved and the sum is greather than the parts.

Think there's only a rare few that haven't experienced both at some stage :)

Love is a conundrum and comes to a person in the most mysterious ways and sometimes for the oddest reasons, but that doesn't negate it, I think that makes it more special. It makes us do strange things but they don't feel strange, causes us to be our best and worst selves and act in ways we thought we never would...I like it though, love and its complexities, and I'm luck to have had it in my life, genuinely and often heartbreakingly real.

I have many scars and disappointments in romantic love, yet I still believe in real and sincere love, because I am able to feel it and to offer it.

I don't think any of us will get through life without scars, although that doesn't negate the fact that the scars we carry are often there through things that have cut us deeply and affected us indelibly. It's nice that you still believe in love though, I like that part, as I know some who do not, and do not allow themselves to be open to it.

I have met some people who say that because of their scars and disappointments they stop believing in love and become somewhat despicable in that respect, doing to others what was once done to them and hurt them. It's something I don't understand, but well the important thing for me is that I have remained firm and true to what I believe and feel.

By the way, thanks for the 💜💜

I know people like that also and stay well away from them as they're not my mind if people. there's probably many reasons they do it.

Thanks for sharing these wonderful songs. As for romantic love, it is something that still eludes me. My sisters are married, and I am very happy just seeing how their partner loves them, and how they love their partner. It might be cliche, but I do believe that true love is very powerful, and can help couples get through a lot of troubles in life much easier.

Pretty great tracks huh?

As for romantic love, it is something that still eludes me

This happens and I've seen it cause people to close themselves off to it through feeling disappointment and sadness, but I think that's that wrong thing to do as it can mean one misses out on something that may present itself. I guess all we can do is be our best selves, our true selves also, and from there the right people will notice.

true love is very powerful, and can help couples get through a lot of troubles in life much easier.

This is certainly the case, and people throw it away at their peril.

You are right. Love mirrors life and you've not only spoken but also chosen music to roll with your words.

I love each tunes presented ☺.

My best love song is Island In The Stream by Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton

The lyrics is all about two lovers, telling each other who they are, what there lives would have become if there was no love.

I'm familiar with the song, a track released in 1983. I'm a little surprised you selected it though, considering its age. Of course, that makes the assumption you're quite young, I assume in your early twenties. Anyway, it's one of the classics and was a very popular song in its day.

Ah,
"Why we said goodbye"
Hitting hard. Enjoyed listening to it, enjoyment with a pain. Lol

As long as love is concerned, it was a beautiful feeling, it was a pleasure and the most valuable thing on this whole planet. But it left bleeding and has cut me.

It happens, i accept. I think everyone consider love a beautiful feeling untill they are unsuccessful in it.

Love bites sometimes, meaning it often hurts; giving oneself over to it, to another person and the emotion of love, opens us up to being hurt and it happens as often as not. All we can do is learn from it and move forward I guess. You liked the tracks?

Love is life but getting that life is actually tough when both parties lack trust in each other. I never believed in love but I have seen genuine love between two parties, you'll feel jealous of them when you see their behaviour towards each other. I will try to love one of these days to know what it means to be in love.

wanna run down your wild dreams and I wanna chase every high with you, count every rip in these old jeans, we'll never learn how to sing the blues"

I love this lyrics maybe because I'm single and still putting my head high to know who we'll never learn how to the blues with,😁😁😁. Thank you 😍😍😍

Beautiful all three songs. I didn't know any of them, for which I thank you, they are beautiful, very beautiful and the last one is super sweet.

They can not describe love better, it has its different forms and nuances, each story is different, each story is a world full of experiences.

Trust and respect, fundamental pillars, for me the most important thing there is and I practice it every day.

For me romantic love is a very powerful energy that goes through everything. I agree with Aristotle and John Lennon. Einstein said: Love is the most powerful force in the universe.

Love gives me a lot of happiness and in difficult times it is my grounding cable. It transports me to another planet and I love it, there is nothing else like it.

In the past it made me suffer a lot.... I suspect that this was not love, love does not hurt.

I leave you my favourite song from a long time ago. This song says it all for me.

I'm glad you liked the tracks, had you heard any of them before? (I'm guessing not.)

Trust and respect, yep indeed, honesty too, with oneself and the people we love huh? Thanks for sharing that Beyonce track, I've heard it before, but it's always good to revisit good songs right?

I didn't know any of the three songs you brought, one is enriched by new things.

Yes, honesty, sincerity is very important in a relationship. And no matter how hard it is, always tell the truth.

I love Beyonce!

I leave you another song from one of my favourite artists.

Oh yeah, Celine Dion, a good set of lungs and vocal chords on that one. I was supposed to see her in concert with some friends once, it didn't work out as I had to fly out for work. Wasn't meant to be.

Maybe later, why not? I hope she keeps on singing.

I don't look at the age of the body, I look at the age of the soul, that's what counts. And the voice is the song of that soul.

Physical bodies... age or mature, like fruit or good wine. The soul is seen in the eyes.

I hope you will continue to improve and delight us with your beautiful voice.

Old Dominion is one of my favorite country acts right now. I remember when their first album came out, I must have listened to it over and over again. I still think it is some of their best work even though they have several more out now. They are a bucket list band that I have been trying to see for a while now. They were supposed to be at a show I was attending in 2020, but Covid shut all that down. I almost wish I had seen them earlier in their career now when they didn't have as many songs. The longer it takes me to see them the greater chance that they won't play all the ones I want to hear!

A great band right.

I think they’d be a great band to see in one of those small shows, you know, like when they first started as you say. We sometimes get big bands doing that here, sort of pop up shows. They’re pretty cool. I know what you mean about them not playing the old favourites though, bands progress and generally tour with their latest releases. I hope you get to see them though.

They are supposed to be down the road here in a week or so, but I didn't get tickets. It's a huge venue and my wife and I don't really care for it because they pack you in and the ticket prices are crazy. I'd be happy to see them at an outdoor show at an amphitheater.

Without trust I don't believe true love is possible.

That's one of the truest things ever.

This is one of my favourite love songs ever, in part because it's so silly, but in another part because it resonates.
