La era de los 90 dejó un buen sabor de éxitos que a lo largo de las últimas dos décadas siguen siendo referencias para músicos en la actualidad. Y aunque sí, pareciera que lo que digo es erróneo, siempre los nuevos artistas buscan algo de los que ya han marcado un territorio en la gran carretera de la música. Viví una de las mejores etapas de mi vida en dicho año además de por supuesto, vivir mi adolescencia en esos años, viví la mejor movida musical. Momentos que espero algún día poder volver a disfrutar.

The 90s left behind a legacy of hits that, over the last two decades, have continued to serve as references for today's musicians. And although it may seem that what I'm saying is wrong, new artists always look to those who have already made their mark on the great highway of music. I experienced one of the best periods of my life during that decade. In addition to living through my adolescence during those years, I experienced the best music scene. These are moments that I hope to enjoy again someday.

No me preguntes que edad tengo, pues la música se siente igual teniendo 41 que teniendo 16 años y les aseguro que, si las tendencias musicales cambiaran, estaría acompañando a mis hijos a cualquier concierto pues vivir experiencias como esas es una verdadera nota. Sé que en otros países todavía existe alguna pequeña movida del rock e importantes bandas todavía en las escenas musicales. En Venezuela desde hace muchos años las cosas han cambiado, de hecho, Venezuela siempre fue una de las principales tarimas del rock y el pop hoy en día, son muy pocas las presentaciones de bandas legendarias. Todo lo contrario, y bueno, aun así, se llenan los estadios con una Karol G o cualquier otro de su género.

Don't ask me how old I am, because music feels the same at 41 as it does at 16, and I can assure you that if musical trends changed, I would be accompanying my children to any concert because experiences like those are truly remarkable. I know that in other countries there is still a small rock scene and important bands are still on the music scene. In Venezuela, things have changed over the years. In fact, Venezuela was always one of the main stages for rock and pop, but today there are very few performances by legendary bands. Quite the contrary, and yet, stadiums are still filled with Karol G or anyone else of her genre.

Los años 90 fueron una explosión de estilos, identidades y experimentación. Tras la euforia de los 80, la música dio un giro notable: más atrevida, más diversa y, sobre todo, más visceral. Esa década nos dejó canciones inolvidables, escenas icónicas y una actitud de reinventarnos constantemente. En la actualidad aún existen artistas que valen la pena escuchar, pero como ya se ha dicho en anteriores ocasiones, son opacados por la misma industria musical pues no lo ven rentable en ciertos puntos. Lo que sí, es que los 90s fue la revolución del formato y la experiencia. Vivimos toda la transformación musical en todos sus sentidos.

The 1990s were an explosion of styles, identities, and experimentation. After the euphoria of the 1980s, music took a remarkable turn: it became bolder, more diverse, and, above all, more visceral. That decade left us with unforgettable songs, iconic scenes, and an attitude of constantly reinventing ourselves. Today, there are still artists worth listening to, but as has been said before, they are overshadowed by the music industry itself because it does not see them as profitable in certain areas. What is certain is that the 90s were a revolution in format and experience. We lived through the entire musical transformation in every sense.

No olvidemos que conocimos los acetatos, los cassettes y hasta llegar a la era más digital con los CDs. Como olvidar que esperaba los fines de semana para ir a alguna tienda de disco en la ciudad e ir de compra para adquirir por ejemplo un nuevo CD de Nirvana y completar mi discografía. Eso era casi ritual para muchos. Destapar uno de ellos y encontrarnos con letras y créditos visibles. Sin mencionar aquellas revistas que nos ofrecían información valiosa de la banda y el mundo musical. Recuerden amigos, no teníamos la tecnología en la palma de la mano como ahora. La era de la radio también estuvo en su máxima expresión en esos años y esto me pone a pensar, ¿Será que la tecnología no es tan buena amiga?

Let's not forget that we knew vinyl records, cassettes, and even the more digital era with CDs. How could I forget waiting for the weekends to go to a record store in the city and buy, for example, a new Nirvana CD to complete my discography? It was almost a ritual for many. Opening one of them and finding the lyrics and credits visible. Not to mention those magazines that offered us valuable information about the band and the music world. Remember, friends, we didn't have technology at our fingertips like we do now. The era of radio was also at its peak in those years, and this makes me wonder, is technology not such a good friend after all?

En fin, la movida de los 90 sigue abriendo puertas, bocas e historias así que les parece si seguimos en este viaje al pasado y en esta ocasión recordándonos esos grandes momentos de nuestra adolescencia que aunque no son especialmente rock lo que hoy les comparto, son agrupaciones que sin duda alguna son leyendas de la música.

In short, the movement of the 90s continues to open doors, mouths, and stories, so how about we continue this journey into the past and this time remember those great moments of our adolescence? Although what I am sharing with you today is not particularly rock, these are groups that are undoubtedly legends of music.
