La música es una de las herramientas que la vida nos ha obsequiado para ser de nuestros días más llevaderos. Sabemos que nuestros días no son tan tranquilos cuando empezamos a tener responsabilidades. Nada más pesado que despertar, y pensar en las facturas por pagar. Y es aquí cuando recuerdo que de niño le gritaba a mi mamá reclamándole que quería ser adulto ja ja ja… Pero ahora, Mamá…. ¡Quiero tener 5 años otra vez!
Music is one of the tools that life has given us to make our days more bearable. We know that our days are not so peaceful when we begin to have responsibilities. Nothing heavier than waking up and thinking about the bills to pay. And this is when I remember that as a child I used to yell at my mom claiming that I wanted to be an adult ha ha ha ha... But now, Mom .... I want to be 5 years old again!
A medida que vamos creciendo nos vamos enfrentando a muchísimos obstáculos como, por ejemplo: nuestra salud mental, emocional y por supuesto física. La música como bien decía arriba, ella va más allá del simple entretenimiento dado que ella logra influir profundamente en nuestras emociones, cognición y bienestar físico. No cabe duda que la música nos acompaña en cada importante y rutinario momento, desde celebraciones hasta reflexiones internas. Además, ha sido una fuente de inspiración para artistas, escritores, cineastas y otros creadores en su proceso creativo. ¿Cómo sería hacer ejercicios sin música? O una fiesta sin música.
As we grow up we face many obstacles such as: our mental, emotional and of course physical health. Music, as I said above, goes beyond simple entertainment because it has a profound influence on our emotions, cognition and physical well-being. There is no doubt that music accompanies us in every important and routine moment, from celebrations to inner reflections. Moreover, it has been a source of inspiration for artists, writers, filmmakers and other creators in their creative process. What would it be like to exercise without music? Or a party without music?
Y si hablamos de términos sociales, la música unifica y educa sobre la identidad cultural y al mismo tiempo refuerza la conexión social. En cada género musical desde el clásico hasta el popular se reflejan valores y tradiciones que crean vínculos que promueven la expresión colectiva.
And if we talk about social terms, music unifies and educates about cultural identity and at the same time reinforces social connection. In every musical genre, from classical to popular, values and traditions are reflected, creating bonds that promote collective expression.
Un dato muy importante es que no te hace falta ser un músico profesional para poder vivir y disfrutar de los beneficios que nos ofrece este maravilloso arte llamado Música. Solo al escucharla, vivirla, sentirla y enriquecernos de ella es más que saber disfrutar del arte. Si hablo por mí, he escuchado muchísimos géneros musicales y lo hago con el propósito de salir de mi zona de confort y a su vez descubrir los diferentes estilos musicales y vaya que todavía me siguen sorprendiendo algunos artistas. Sobre todo, porque muchos de los que escuchaba en sus inicios no se han quedado en el pasado y han sabido llevar su trabajo a la actualidad.
A very important fact is that you don't need to be a professional musician to be able to live and enjoy the benefits that this wonderful art called Music offers us. Just by listening to it, living it, feeling it and being enriched by it is more than knowing how to enjoy the art. If I speak for myself, I have listened to many musical genres and I do it with the purpose of getting out of my comfort zone and at the same time discovering the different musical styles and I am still surprised by some artists. Especially because many of the ones I listened to in the beginning have not stayed in the past and have managed to bring their work to the present.
Algunos fuera de contextos, otros, con el mismo panorama pero con nuevos experimentos musicales. Una de esas bandas que han sabido mantenerse a lo largo de casi dos décadas es la banda venezolana Rawayana. Banda que fue galardonada con un Grammy Latino y el más reciente, el Grammy que, como dijeron ellos, un verdadero reconociendo mundial de su larga y apasionada trayectoria musical.
Some out of context, others, with the same panorama but with new musical experiments. One of those bands that have been able to maintain themselves for almost two decades is the Venezuelan band Rawayana. Band that was awarded with a Latin Grammy and the most recent, the Grammy which, as they said, a true worldwide recognition of their long and passionate musical career.
A medida que avanzaron en su carrera, Rawayana empezó a incorporar más elementos de diferentes géneros fluidez que se hizo evidente en su segundo y tercer álbum. Su sonido se hizo más ecléctico, mezclando sonidos tropicales, electrónicos y de pop alternativo, sin perder esa esencia vibrante y alegre que caracteriza su música. Pero sinceramente, no es que no me guste su nueva era musical, pero no me considero un consumidor como en sus primeros trabajos. Y es que a lo largo de sus años sus letras fueron evolucionado desde conseguirnos aquella diversión despreocupada hacia temas más introspectivos como por ejemplo, Veneka. Canción con la que consiguieron el mayor galardón EL Grammy. Claro, aun así, no han perdido ese carácter positivo y optimista que caracteriza a la banda.
As they progressed in their career, Rawayana began to incorporate more elements of different genres, a fluidity that became evident in their second and third albums. Their sound became more eclectic, mixing tropical, electronic and alternative pop sounds, without losing that vibrant and joyful essence that characterizes their music. But honestly, it's not that I don't like their new musical era, but I don't consider myself a consumer like in their first works. And the fact is that throughout their years their lyrics evolved from getting us that carefree fun to more introspective themes such as, for example, Veneka. Song with which they got the biggest award THE Grammy. Of course, even so, they have not lost that positive and optimistic character that characterizes the band.
Quiero compartir con ustedes tres canciones que podría considerar mis favoritas. Por supuesto, trataré de que sea desde sus primeros años a lo más actual. No comparto la que los llevo a ganarse el Grammy porque aun así, no es de mis favoritas. Claro, si toca bailarla, denme espacio que necesito mover el bote ja ja ja…
I want to share with you three songs that I would consider my favorites. Of course, I will try to make it from their early years to the most current. I won't share the one that led them to win the Grammy because even so, it's not one of my favorites. Of course, if it's time to dance to it, give me some room, I need to rock the boat ha ha ha ha....
