¡3 canciones para empezar la semana con energía! | K-Pop Demon Hunters | [ESP | ENG]
Welcome back to my blog, guys! Today I bring you my classic review to start a new week with energy; today the theme has to do with the arrival of a new movie to Netflix which is called K-Pop Demon Hunters, and is about the story of 3 girls who have a K-Pop group destined to save the world from demons through music and their special fighting skills.
As a movie it's an enjoyable product but with some details that I will mention this week in my blog when I review it, but on a musical level it's a genius, I feel that there is a clear formula that we can find in songs of that genre nowadays, especially if, like me, you are a fan of League Of Legends, you will notice that the sounds are very similar to songs that we have already heard before.
Today I'm going to show you my favorite songs from the movie and tell you why, so, without further ado, let's get started!

El día de hoy les traigo mi clásica reseña para empezar una nueva semana con energía; hoy la temática tiene que ver con la llegada de una película nueva a Netflix la cuál se denomina K-Pop Demon Hunters, y trata sobre la historia de 3 chicas que tienen un grupo de K-Pop destinado a salvar el mundo de demonios a través de la música y de sus habilidades especiales de combate.
Como película es un producto agradable pero con algunos detalles que mencionaré esta semana en mi blog cuando haga el review de la misma, pero a nivel musical es una genialidad, siento que hay una fórmula clara que podemos encontrar en canciones de ese género en la actualidad, sobretodo si, como yo, eres fanático de League Of Legends, te darás cuenta de que los sonidos se parecen mucho a canciones que ya hemos escuchado antes.
Hoy te voy a mostrar mis canciones favoritas de la película y te contaré el porqué de las mismas, así que, sin más que agregar, ¡comencemos!
1.- Golden
We start the review with the obligatory hit of the movie, basically the song with which the movie was advertised the most, known as Golden and it really has a very particular sense why, first of all, it seems as if you combine a k-pop singer with a Disney singer and a perfect product is born at the vocal level, the register of the main vocalist is simply impressive, to the point that many people thought that everything was more digital than human.
The formula of the song is very catchy, but it also has powerful lyrics, in which values such as self-esteem, knowing what you are and represent, not hiding anymore because you must show the gifts you were born with, show what you are and so on.
I have seen many opinions of experts in the area doing vocal coaching and there are really like divided opinions, there are people who like the work and the song, there are those who do not, even among artists and creators that I consume a lot, but I must say that this is an incredible product, for me it is a resounding hit and the vocal quality of Ejae (name of the artist who plays Rumi, the main vocalist of the group) is simply impressive, if you do not believe me, look how she sounds live singing the song:
Comenzamos la reseña con el hit obligatorio de la película, básicamente la canción con la que más se hizo publicidad de la obra, conocida como Golden y realmente tiene un sentido muy particular el porqué, en primer lugar, parece como si combinaras una cantante de k-pop con una cantante de Disney y naciera un producto perfecto a nivel vocal, el registro de la vocalista principal es simplemente impresionante, al puno de que muchas personas pensaron que todo era más digital que humano.
La fórmula de la canción es muy pegajosa, pero también tiene una letra poderosa, en la que se realzan valores como el autoestima, el hecho de saber lo que eres y representas, el no esconderte más porque debes mostrar los dotes con los que naciste, mostrar lo que eres y demás.
He visto muchas opiniones de expertos en el área haciendo vocal coaching y realmente hay como opiniones divididas, hay personas que les gusta la obra y la canción, hay a quienes no, inclusive entre artistas y creadores que yo consumo bastante, pero debo decir que este es un producto increíble, para mí es un hit rotundo y la calidad vocal de Ejae (nombre de la artista que hace de Rumi, la vocalista principal del grupo) es simplemente impresionante, si no me creen, miren cómo suena en vivo cantando la canción:
2.- Free
This song for me is the most Disney of the whole movie and of course, as I am a hopeless romantic, it is impossible for me not to feel happy to see a connection of this level between two characters that, in theory are antagonistic (no spoilers), but the lyrics, the melody, everything in this song is too beautiful and I was too excited to have listened to it.
The lyrics talk about how love, affection and trust in someone can make you feel free, because you can be living a lie by trying to deny something real that is happening between you and a person, also about how a person can change you for the better, the chorus of the song has a melody that feels like what should sound inside you when you are in love and connected with someone.
The mix between the two voices and the two styles I loved too much, because the girl does long melodies, the guy does short melodies with some rap, then they connect in the chorus and make beautiful harmonies, the bridge of the song is more beautiful than the whole song and I feel like someday I would like to cover that song with someone.
Esta canción para mí es la más Disney de toda la película y por supuesto, como yo soy un romántico empedernido, es imposible para mí no sentirme feliz de ver una conexión de este nivel entre dos personajes que, en teoría son antagónicos (sin ánimos de hacer spoiler), pero la letra, la melodía, todo en esta canción es demasiado hermoso y me emocionó demasiado el haberla escuchado.
La letra habla sobre cómo el amor, el cariño y la confianza en alguien puede hacerte sentir libre, porque puedes estar viviendo una mentira por tratar de negar algo real que está sucediendo entre tú y una persona, también sobre el cómo una persona puede cambiarte para bien, el estribillo de la canción tiene una melodía que se siente como lo que debería sonar dentro de ti cuando estás enamorado y conectado con alguien.
La mezcla entre las dos voces y los dos estilos me encantó demasiado, porque la chica hace melodías largas, el chico hace melodías cortas con algo de rap, luego conectan en el estribillo y hacen armonías bellísimas, el puente de la canción es más hermoso que toda la canción y siento que algún día me gustaría hacer un cover de esa canción con alguien.
3.- Your Idol
This song is literally one of the best ways I have seen someone present what a villain is musically, I feel this formula was perfect to show all the most evil side of the antagonist's nature, the funny thing is that it has a beastly production in the voice at compression level but it makes one understand too much that we are in the presence of not only a villain but a demon that wants to control people.
This song fulfills its role of being a hypnotizing melody, striking choreographies, I love the use of the vocal low range of the vocalist, demonstrating a great vocal versatility to be able to reach those low notes with a lot of dynamics, I love the fact of the concept of a k-pop "boys band" being villains, because it is something I had never seen before, so, for my brain it was a curious way to show this kind of formula at musical level, it totally achieved its purpose.
Esta canción es literalmente una de las mejores maneras que he visto de alguien presentar lo que es un villano musicalmente, siento que esta fórmula fue perfecta para mostrar todo el lado más malvado de la naturaleza del antagonista, lo curioso es que tiene una producción bestial en la voz a nivel de compresión pero hace que uno entienda demasiado que estamos en la presencia de no solo un villano sino un demonio que quiere controlar personas.
Esta canción cumple con su rol de ser una melodía hipnotizante, coreografías llamativas, me encanta el uso del rango bajo vocal del vocalista, demostrando una gran versatilidad vocal para poder alcanzar esas notas graves con mucha dinámica, me encanta el hecho del concepto de una "boys band" de k-pop siendo villanos, porque es algo que no había visto nunca, por lo que, para mi cerebro fue una curiosa manera de mostrar este tipo de fórmula a nivel musical, logró su cometido totalmente.
Bonus Track.- Soda Pop
This song is literally the antithesis of the previous one, but it comes from the same group, because it is the introduction of the "boys band" to the movie and I feel that they did it in the most commercial way possible, to the point that I can admit that this is a perfect product at the formula level to make a hit that is catchy without risking too much at the level of lyrics or melody, it has everything just right to make it stay in your mind for a long time.
The chorus is perfect, it's a pretty tropical song on the level of the k-pop genre, it would easily be a release that could receive too much marketing and in fact, I've seen that they are touring with this song and the previous mentioned song, it's pretty crazy to think about because in theory in a concert one should hear more songs but the formula was perfect and it worked, so it makes sense that they would do it this way.
This kind of formula reminds me too much of groups like BTS, with songs like Dinamite which are specific formulas made for you to like even if you don't consume this kind of music, it's invasive and very catchy, it grabbed me from the first moment.
Esta canción es literalmente el antítesis de la anterior, pero viene del mismo grupo, porque es la introducción de la "boys band" a la película y siento que lo hicieron de la manera más comercial posible, al punto de que puedo admitir que este es un producto perfecto a nivel de fórmula para hacer un hit que sea pegajoso sin arriesgar demasiado a nivel de letra o melodía, tiene todo lo justo para que se quede en tu mente por mucho tiempo.
El estribillo es perfecto, es una canción bastante tropical a nivel del género k-pop, sería fácilmente un lanzamiento que podría recibir demasiado marketing y de hecho, he visto que están haciendo una gira con esta canción y la anterior mencionada, es muy loco pensar en ello porque, en teoría, en un concierto uno debería escuchar más canciones pero la fórmula fue perfecta y funcionó, así que tiene sentido que lo hagan de esta manera.
Este tipo de fórmula me recuerda demasiado grupos como BTS, con canciones como Dinamite que son fórmulas específicas hechas para que te guste así no consumas este tipo de música, es invasiva y muy pegajosa, a mí me atrapó desde el primer momento.

For a person like me who enjoys musicals, k-pop and animated movies, I feel that this movie fulfilled everything, but especially for the fact that it covered the musical part, it was not only empty products, there were concepts, there were impressive melodies, there were beautiful harmonies, it had it all.

Esta película a nivel musical siento que fue una genialidad, para una persona como yo que disfruta demasiado los musicales, el k-pop y las películas animadas, siento que cumplió con todo, pero sobretodo por el hecho de cubrir la parte musical, no solo fueron productos vacíos, hubo conceptos, hubo melodías impresionantes, hubo armonías bellísimas, lo tuvo todo.
