Three Tune Tuesday: Vibing to Dua Lipa’s Songs from Radical Optimism

Happy Tuesday! Joining the #TTT or #ThreeTuneTuesday🤘🏻, thanks to @ablaze for coming up with this amazing idea.

Last year, my friends and I made plans to watch Dua Lipa's Radical Optimism concert. But honestly, most of our conversations were just us asking, 'so, when are we going to buy concert tickets?' over and over again until the concert happened and we didn’t go 😂

But that’s the thing I love about my friends, we share the same love for music. We’ve been singing and jamming together since high school. It’s always been one of our bondings. So even though we didn’t make it to Dua Lipa’s concert, she’s definitely on our shared playlist.

Last night, while browsing for something to play on Spotify, a Dua Lipa song popped up and suddenly, all the memories and regret of not hearing and seeing her live came rushing back. Radical Optimism, her latest album released last May 2024, has been on repeat since.

So here are some of my favorites:

🎶 Training Season

Need someone to hold me close
Deeper than I've ever known
Whose love feels like a rodeo
Knows just how to take control
When I'm vulnerable
He's straight talking to my soul (If that ain't you, then let me know, yeah)
Conversation overload

There’s something so irresistible about this song. The buildup, the playful beat, the lyrics, everything. I think that's the reason why I love Dua Lipa's music. Her music somehow balances emotions with a classy and confident energy. It’s like you’re dancing through your feelings with grace.

🎶 These Walls

But if these walls could talk
(They'd say) "Enough"
(They'd say) "Give up"
If these walls could talk
(They'd say) "You know"
(They'd say) "You're fucked"
It's not supposed to hurt this much
Oh, if these walls could talk
They'd tell us to break up

This one hit me hard even though I'm not heartbroken. It’s one of those songs that sounds upbeat but holds so much emotional weight. The lyrics are low-key blunt and I adore how she delivers them with elegance. I love the live version from the Royal Albert Hall but if I had to choose, her Tiny Desk performance is my absolute favorite.

🎶 Happy for You

I must've loved you more than I ever knew
(Didn't know I could ever feel)
'Cause I'm happy for you
(Now, I know everything was real)
I'm not mad, I'm not hurt
You got everythin' you deserve
Oh, I must've loved you more than I ever knew
I'm happy for you

Most breakup songs are full of anger and bitterness, but this one feels more mature. I love how Dua Lipa turned something emotional into a song that’s still fun to listen to.

I added her Tiny Desk version here :) Enjoy!

Baka mas familiar ka sa old songs ni Dua Lipa like IDGAF, New Rules, or Don't Start Now :)

Ang effort naman Ruffa! But I think this one's by Billie Eilish :D I like their version tho!! 🤘🏼

I think her voice is quite distinct and that's what I love about Dua Lipa ever since I first heard her with martin garrix. I don't know why they don't really make music like it used to but oh how I missed those 2017 Era of Dua lipa :D

I agree! That collab with Martin Garrix was such a bop! 2017 Dua hits different, there's something about the vibe that I also kinda wish they bring back. Thanks for checking this out, @caffeinepixie 🤘🏼

Excelente seleccion musical. A mi me gusta Dua Lipa. Hace un duo con Elton Jhon buenisimo. Una de ellas es "Cold Hert", con varios temas de Elton.
Saludos y gracias por compartir @cthings
