My Actifit Report Card: July 28 2024 - Heavy Metal Indians
Part of my activity today was a food shopping trip. I have Sirius XM satellite radio in one of my vehicles and I took that one to the store.
There are 4 Metal stations in a row in Sirius XM. Octane plays new metal of a slightly more pop variety. Ozzy's Boneyard plays mostly classic metal from as far back as the late 69s. Hair Nation plays mostly 80s hair metal bands. Liquid Metal plays mostly new and extreme metal.
I had Ozzy's Boneyard on during the short trip to the store. They played Indians by Anthrax, a thrash metal band from New York City. It advocated for improving the plight of the American Indians. This is from the 80s when people were starting to understand what they had gone through and what problems still remained.
I'll give a general Language Warning here!
This is metal music which is not some fluffy pop genre. The description of what Indians went through in the lyrics might be disturbing to some. Really, we should all be disturbed and vow to not treat anyone like this ever again.
I was reminded of another Metal song with a similar lyrical sentiment. That song is Run To The Hills by Iron Maiden from the UK. It is also from the 80s and although it is not quite as fast as parts of Indians above, it is still a loud powerful classic metal tune!
Thinking of these 2 metal bands reminds me of a song by each that I like as much or more than the 2 songs above.
For Anthrax, I love Caught In A Mosh. This is an anti violence song about not hurting others at metal concerts by extreme mosh dancing. It has several tempo changes and parts are super fast!
For Iron Maiden, I go back to their first album from 1980. This album had the song Iron Maiden by the band Iron Maiden. It's pretty fast and rocks hard for its time. It's a bit in the horror rock genre to some degree so again, beware of the lyrics!
All of these videos have over 1 Million views each, with a total approaching 20 Million views! Plus there are other videos of each of these songs on YouTube. Point being, many people also appreciate hard and heavy rock!
My Activity
today was that food shopping trip where I listened to Ozzy's Boneyard as mentioned above. I also moved around the house a lot, listening to various genres of music and jumping around to the beat. Look at my number, 11.5K!
I did take my daily nightly walk but it wasn't for long. I had family visiting and although I wanted to walk, I also very much wanted to spend as much time as possible with family. Nothing is more important than family, in my opinion!
I hope your weekend rocked! Have a nice day! :)

Indians really need to work on that before it is too late
It's great to see how music, especially metal, can bring awareness to important issues and also energize daily activities. Your choice to spend time with family while reflecting on meaningful lyrics highlights how personal interests and relationships intertwine. Big ups!! 💪
Walking is good for the health of all of us and these songs are all very interesting.
