A song with historical experience
Hello Everyone
Welcome to my blog.
I am currently in my hometown, and it gladdens my heart that I would freely communicate in my local language.
I grew up in my hometown, so I speak my local language fluently.
This brings me to the song I heard when my mum turned on the radio.
It is a song with a funny title "because of English by Bright Chimezie.
He is a known singer who does his music in the African way.
His songs are mostly telling a story like song pattern.
This particular song is based on what most people that went to rural area schools faced in the classroom.
In as much as English is a compulsory subject from nursery schools in my country.
Back then, we hardly speak nor understand it.
Even with gradual teachings at school, we find it difficult because once we get home.
We communicate in our local language.
The back and forth is a huge challenge back then.
In this song, he narrates how his teacher flogged him because he couldn't speak English.
Back then, most teachers made English speaking compulsory in the classroom for two reasons.
So, the students can speak and understand English well.
So, they will reduce the quantity of noise from students in the classroom.
Because you can only talk when you know what to speak.
In this song, he said he made sure not to communicate with anybody in the classroom because he doesn't know how to speak English.
Then, his classroom borrowed his pencil to write.
When he wanted to write with his pen, she called out to his classroom "Chinyere" to give him his pencil in Igbo.
The teacher heard it and gave him some strokes of cane.
Then, he started crying that his teacher punished him because of English.
Now, he would learn English by force.
This made me remember my school days as well.
My primary school days were a struggle with reading, speaking, and understanding English.
You are seen as a top student, if you are good in English.
It isn't like that nowadays.
Children now speak Queen's English.
They won't even believe that something like this happened, but with the song, there won't be any doubt, and it would be remembered.

This is hilarious 😂 but the struggle then is something to write home about. Your mouth will just be closed throughout the day in school cuz of inability to speak 🙊 English 😂😂😂
That's it oo😂😂😂
And they usually say English doesn't make noise because even if you know little, you will be picking your words.
Sincerely I use to enjoy every bit of his songs because he always have a way to tell stories and inspire. Thanks for this amazing article ♥ you just brought back memories, i missed his songs.
Nice 😁
Glad I did.
Thank you very much for stopping by.
You're welcome ♥
Haha I can relate to this story😅. We were made to wear montos ( like sackshirt or a drilled avocado seed or a carton written I can't speak English 🤣🤣🤣)
Them good ol' days 😌😅😅
It is well.
Nowadays, it is not like that because they start understanding it at a very young age.
