When music connects us to the ones we love
The first time I listened to Rachel Platten’s ‘Fight Song’, I knew she was one artist I wanted to keep listening to so when I heard her p‘Better Place’, I didn't hesitate to download it.

It wasn't the lyrics or the melody of the song that tripped me immediately, it was the music video.
I happened to find that song while randomly going through YouTube to check out new Black girl glow tips that had been suggested for me when I saw the video. Since it was Rachel, I browsed out the lyrics and eventually downloaded the audio version.
When I returned to YouTube, I decided to watch the video and that was when my jaw dropped in wonder.
It was boldly written just during the beginning of the video that “For her Better place music video, Rachel wanted to conduct a social experiment with her fans”
Rachel Platten - Better Place (Official Video)
I was wondering what she was going to do with her fans in the video, she was probably going to do an interview, interact with them, maybe support them financially or otherwise but the next statement made me draw my brows together in curiosity. It said,
“She invited couples and families to simply sit and look at one another while listening to her song”
If there was anything I had experienced first hand, it was the power of good music. I knew how people could develop an emotional attachment even where there was none pre-existing simply because they sat together and listened to or connected with one particular music.
During a dance practical in school, we had a situation where the lead male dancer developed an emotional connection with the lead female dancer of the group simply because they spent hours together almost every day listening to the same music in order to perfect their steps. It was this emotional connection that made their group work more outstanding than the rest of the groups because even as they danced, everyone could feel the interpretation of the music in the background.
With what I was seeing, I knew it was going to be an interesting video completely different from the conventional ones where the artist would just adlip to the lyrics, wearing elaborate outfits with a proper makeover and some dance moves to make it more interesting. So I paused the initial video I was watching and settled on Rachel's video.
It still said on the screen that “Rachel watched the reactions from a hidden location” then it went ahead to say, “Here's what happened”.
True to what was said, I saw families, friends and lovers walk in during the video and even before the video had gone halfway, I could see that they were already tilting towards each other passionately.
I don't know how Rachel got the idea to do that but it was an idea I thought about adopting for a long time. I thought about calling my girls together and playing the same song, Rachel Platten's ‘Better Place' and just watch their reactions, not with me, but with one another.
There was nothing I enjoyed more than watching my friends bond not just because they wanted me to think they rolled freely with the other girls but because they had truly come to meet and appreciate one another.
Sometimes it can be difficult to blend into another chain of friends just because your friend is friends with them but whenever any of my friends wanted me to meet with another group of their friends, even an individual, I make sure to blend in as much as I can so it doesn't feel weird.
I wanted them to do that for me too.
They were very good together on the group chat but when they met physically sometimes, they could be a stressful lot.
Then I thought about my family too.
We tried our best to ensure we hung out as a family every year to keep the bond intact but truthfully, there were more rackets than there was peace. I figured that if we could remind ourselves of the value we have on each other, then we could learn to appreciate ourselves some more and one way I figured that could happen was through the social experiment Rachel conducted with her fans.
I wanted everyone in my life to understand how much they meant to me. I don't just want my relationship with them to be all talk and no form of appreciation so I've been looking for ways to show it to them through my words and actions.
I have not found an opportunity to carry out this experiment yet but I'm hoping I will, and I hope that when I do, just like it says in Rachel's song, they eventually get to find out that “It's been a better place since they came along”.

Nice evaluation and I hope your girl's with out. And yes, the concept is quit understandable. I mean just like you said, music is the language of love.
It is 😊
