How Music Influences Fashion Trends

Music is definitely shaping and transforming our society around beyond what we can imagine. There are a whole lot of changes that have been Kickstarted by music in our society that actually looks quite impossible decades ago. In fact, there have been a whole lot of instances whereby we have seen music unite different tribes together. I have seen music stopped wars and create teamwork but among all, there is popular one i am seeing and that is music creating a fashion trend.

The fact that our cultural identity can be expressed through music gives it's uniqueness and beyond that. I have seen some of our popular musicians have helped to kickstart a fashion trend that grew popular even beyond the music world. Take for example in Nigeria, it has been on several occasions that musicians have helped to create fashion trends. I am talking about musicians like WizKid, Davido, Naira Marley and many more.

Beyond the entertaining feeling that music always offers, I have come to discover that it also helped to help us reflect on some things that we usually ignore. And it looks like every generation have the cultural identity that they always kickstart. What do I mean by that? There was this sense of fashion that the likes of Fela Kuti Kickstarted, there was also this sense of fashion that the likes of bob Marley, Michael Jackson and many more kickstart back then. That was during their generation. You will agree with me that the fashion trend that Fela Kuti Kickstarted is no more relevant again in our present world.

But if there is something I have come to notice, it is the fact that not all musicians can use their music to kickstart this fashion trend. In fact, every fashion trend that seems to begin from a music is due to the popularity that the musicians has. As a musician, before you can kickstart this fashion trend, you must have really had this strong fan base and large audience. It is from this popularity that they can help to kickstart your fashion trend.

With the recent trend that is happening, I also believe that the fashion industry also understands that the musicians most especially the popular ones have this power to shape trends. Musicians are now signing deals I mean brands deals from different fashion brands just to promote their fashion identity. It is already working because people are seeing it as a marketing strategy.

I believe we should start seeing the world of music from this angle. We should start seeing the numerous potential that music can cause. It can influence massive change beyond what we can ever imagine of. Beyond just the singing, it can kickstart some change that we might not even be able to dream of and one of them is what I have discussed today. The problem with this present generation is that we have limited the music world to the aspect of singing which is good. Beyond the singing and dancing aspect that the music world might offer, it can also transform our world around.
