Gone And Unnoticed.

Do you ever wonder why someone who seemed fine and cheerful the last time you saw them is suddenly reported to have sunken deep into depression, or worse still, committed suicide?

“I just had a drink with him two days back and he was fine!”

Or so you thought.

Generally, people with bubbly personalities and cheerful smiles at all times are always believed to have little to no problems in life. While others are seen sad or needing a shoulder to cry on, they are often the ones giving comfort and keeping the room light with their jokes. They always seem to have their life together because, of course, they’re the ones giving good advice, telling you everything will be fine, and reminding you that whatever you’re going through is only temporary. You look at them and think they're the strongest. But deep down, beneath that smile and cheerful personality, is someone who is falling apart.

All that strength they seem to have on the surface is only a coping mechanism to hide what they truly feel inside, one of which I can relate to.

I've had some of my close friends tell me, “You're always happy. I've never seen you sad or angry. I don't think you're capable of being angry, to be honest.”
And when people find out what my real name is, they go like,"Your name is Joy, is that why you're always happy?”

If we’re being real, no one is ever always happy as long as life is concerned. Some people just choose to lead their hard times with a smile. I’ve had many nights where I cried myself to sleep, times when I got so frustrated with everything, moments when I didn’t even know how to get myself together anymore. But the next time I’m seen outside, the smile covers everything. I chose to toughen up and keep pushing through. Everyone has their own problems after all, why add to theirs?
And because people like that don’t wear their problems on their faces, friends often don’t ask how they’re doing, they assume everything is “fine.”

PEOPLE by Libianca is a song that only someone who has always been the shoulder for others to cry on, without having one to cry on, can truly relate to. Libianca has definitely had moments where she went through this, because those lyrics may look simple, but they speak so deep.

“Did you check on me?”
“Did you look for me?”

As truthful as it is, checking up on your loved ones is very important. Not just giving them a listening ear when they need help, but paying attention to them, especially when they seem quiet or out of reach, because that may be when they’re struggling the most and need someone by their side

It doesn’t take all the time in the world to reach out to the one s you care about. A simple text that gets to them in less than a second can do all the work. Nobody is that busy to spare even a second for their loved ones. Emotional presence has a very strong impact. Just knowing that someone somewhere is thinking about me, and has sent a text to let me know that, is enough to light up my mood for the entire day.

The bottom line?

Keep your close ones close. If you’re busy, let them know you’re thinking about them. And when you get enough time, notice when they’re gone, and try to see if they’re actually fine when they say they are. Sometimes they don’t want to trouble anyone, but if you care enough, remember that silence or smiles don’t always mean everything is alright.

I am this person she sang for and it's not funny how people by your side assume you are always fine cuz you don't complain. It's really good to check on ourselves
