Some Think We're All Going To Heaven
Asked once by journalists what happiness is, Charlie Chaplin answered briefly: "Good health and a bad memory!"
My health isn't that good anymore and my memory is starting to fail me, what should I understand from this? That I'm half happy?
Maybe I'm happy, but not half. Happiness is made up of many short moments of life, happiness cannot be permanent or have long episodes, because we are not alone in the world and there are enough who work to prolong it, on the one hand, and the other hand, if it were too long, we would get bored. When you are bored you cannot be happy...
I happily admit that I have been happy many times. I don't know if this is because I am content with little or because I am a lucky person, contrary to my belief and much evidence.
Beyond the happiness and joy caused by family and friends, which often mixes with its opposite, because that's life, many passions can bring happiness.
Music, for example, makes me happy most of the time. Happiness that lasts for a few minutes, as long as the song lasts...
I have aged, both in soul and body, but not as badly as it could have been. But I feel overwhelmed by the current reality, I no longer understand people who are increasingly aggressive and uncivilized. Moreover, and worse for me, I feel that the world is heading towards something I don't want to experience. Here is something safe and reassuring for me, because I really won't live to see how it will be.
I have a method to protect myself from what I said above, that is, why I don't like the world anymore. I take refuge, when I can, in the past. Movies and music from the 70s-80s, when I was young and liked life.
We'll All Go To Heaven (On Ira Tous Au Paradis)
I listened to a song I can't get out of my head. A French singer who I don't think people know anymore, although I understand he still sings.
As the title says, the singer tells us that we will all go to paradise, regardless of what we have done in life and, of course, in disagreement with what religions affirm. Life after death is the greatest promise made to people, but you have to live a sinless life to get to heaven, which is almost impossible. Well, the chosen ones, because there will be a chosen few, will access.
Polnareff seems to appreciate communism and equality and believes we will all go to heaven!
This month I turned 71, am increasingly interested in the possibility that there is something after death.
In my childhood, death was not a concern for me, it was something that only happened to others. I went to church with my grandmother every Sunday and I believed that there was heaven and hell, but I didn't worry about meeting the criteria for admission to heaven.
In my youth, like any rebellious young man, I no longer believed in the possibility of life after death. Now, in my old age, I am not so sure, I have no proof that it exists or does not exist, although I would prefer it to exist.
On the other hand, if there is life after death and heaven and hell, I don't really qualify for heaven (paradise).
I would prefer what Polnareff says in the song to be true!
This confession of what concerns me now was caused by this song, which I believe is little to no known to you. I also hope it's suitable for those in the Q Inspired-by-Music community.
I tried to translate the lyrics.
We'll All Go To Heaven
We'll all go to heaven, even me
Whether we're blessed or cursed, we'll go
All the good sisters and all the thieves
All the sheep and all the bandits
We'll all go to heaven
We'll all go to heaven, even me
Whether we're blessed or cursed, we'll go
With the saints and the murderers
The women of the world and then the whores
We'll all go to heaven
Don't believe what people say
Your heart is the only church
Let your soul have a little wave
Don't be afraid of the color of the flames of hell
We'll all go to heaven, even me
Whether we believe in God or not, we'll go...
Whether we've done good or evil
We'll all be invited to the ball
We'll all go to heaven
We'll all go to heaven, even me
Whether we believe in God or not, we will go
With the Christians, with the pagans
And even the dogs and even the sharks
We will all go to heaven
We will all go to heaven, even me,
Whether we are blessed or cursed, we will go
All the nuns and all the thieves
All the sheep and all the bandits
We will all go to heaven
We will all go to heaven, even me
Whether we are blessed or cursed, we will go
Everything
And then...
And then...
And all the...
We will all go to heaven
We will all go to heaven, even me
Whether we are blessed or cursed, we will go
All the nuns and all the thieves
All the sheep and all the bandits
We will all go to heaven...
Especially me

I assure you that what there is after this earthly life is a beautiful state of peace and well-being, I think it cannot be described. We just transcend. We take the memories and experiences with us, may they be the best thing we do.
Do you think so?
Yes, 100%. My grandmother has shown it to me. That I can tell you... I wanted to go with her.
I am happy for you that you have this certainty, I would like to have it too.
Don't worry... live life, the rest will come for everyone, Don't be afraid...
Charlie Chaplin seems to had a good answer 😁
Although memory is a double-edged sword, still... memories of nice moments, episodes and feelings could definitely win over the memories of bad episodes - and maybe that is already a state of heaven (happiness?)
P.S. How great photo!
Thank you!
I now have to pay attention to the battle of memories, I think you are right about the winner.
Of course, you will always know to pick the good memories as the winner ;)
What a caption it was, very nice👍
Life after death, hmmm, I really do not know but just like every Christian, I also believe in the fact that it exists but for the criteria of qualifying like you said, it remains one of the most difficult things to click, hence, the constant struggle of us over here on earth because we keep trying to live sinless in the world of sins.
Regardless, I believe a conscious effort of doing the right thing to the best of your knowledge will go a long way
Of course, this is impossible. One can only hope for a more lenient judgment, or...
Eventually
That's all we have, isn't it? Only memories, and I will also turn 71 in April. Life definitely gets tougher as we age, and health also becomes a big issue.
All that I can say my friend is, such is life.

That's right, @papilloncharity, that's life and we are still learning that.
We are the same age and I love that we still enjoy being here, taking pictures and telling stories about how we live. Different in such different places, but also similar sometimes.
I totally agree with you my friend, and as they say, life goes on. We just have to make the best of things in our own ways. I think they call it endurance.
