Yes, this instrument that many times I heard that "it only makes noise" because the truth is that no, there are so many different sounds to achieve with it, so many rhythms, and skills to acquire, the change of rhythm, of hand, of place where to make the bass drum sound, that I still feel this of being new and I hope to be able to surprise myself learning soon to make the bass drum sound with coherence.

De esta manera, adoptamos maestros o referentes, y nos sentimos inspirados por ellos. En mi caso, esta vez, vengo con una historia de murga, aprendiendo a tocar el bombo. Si, este instrumento que muchas veces escuché que “sólo hace ruido” pues la verdad es que no, hay tantos sonidos diferentes que lograr con él, tantos ritmos, y destrezas que adquirir, el cambio de ritmo, de mano, de sitio donde hacer sonar el bombo, que aún siento esto de ser nueva y espero poder sorprenderme aprendiendo pronto hacer sonar el bombo con coherencia.

As it happens in dance, it is difficult to take pictures of these moments of practice and rehearsal, even more so with a bass drum on top. That's why I bring you some video captures that reflect very well how I'm feeling haha, a little insecure but always daring. I thought that holding a bass drum with my back would be more tiring because of its weight, but it wasn't so, maybe it's also because I still play slowly and some beats I let them pass without playing, so I don't hold my arms up all the time to be holding the weight only with my back.

Tal como sucede en el baile, es difícil tomar fotos de estos momentos de práctica y ensayo, más aún con un bombo encima. Por eso les traigo algunas capturas de videos que reflejan muy bien cómo me voy sintiendo jaja, algo insegura pero siempre atrevida. Pensé que sostener un bombo con la espalda sería más cansados por su peso, pero no fue así, quizás también se debe a que aún toco despacio y algunos tiempos los dejo pasar sin tocar, entonces no sostengo los brazos arriba todo el tiempo para estar aguantando el peso únicamente con la espalda.

Muchos detalles los iré viendo mientras descubro lo que aprendo y puedo tocar. De momento, todos juntos hemos practicado el ritmo que será “la llamada” donde la murga se prepara para su presentación, y luego de un corte de ritmo, que aún no me sale, el ritmo uno, que debo mejorarlo un poco. Dicho así parece hasta fácil, para mi es un montón haber aprendido esto ya jaja

On the other hand, the human group here is lovely, as it was also in the dance, but being less people participating here, it makes it more of a small and generous community among themselves. Although the one in charge of the newcomers is Agustín, I also count on Rama, or Yoni to be able to see and follow them, although as experienced bombistas, they make different games and sounds that I still can't distinguish.

Por otro lado, el grupo humano aquí es encantador, lo era también en el baile, pero siendo menos personas participantes aquí, lo hace más una comunidad pequeña y generosa entre ellos mismos. Aunque el encargado de los nuevos es Agustín, también cuento con Rama, o Yoni para poder verlos y seguirlos, aunque como bombistas experimentados, ellos hacen distintos juegos y sonidos que yo aún no distingo.

Lastly, for those of you who are more studious or nerdy like me, there are books and different scores for bass drummers. I thought this would be super overwhelming, because I can not practice without the instrument at home, yet it is very easy to learn and try to follow, the book is clearly explained for new people who start and surely as soon as I advance, so will the exercises and rhythms that I can try and exchange.

Por último, contarles, que para los que son más estudiosos o ñoños como yo, existen libros y distintas partituras para bombistas. Pensé que esto sería super abrumador, porque no puedo practicarlo sin el instrumento en casa, aún así es muy fácil de aprender y tratar de seguir, el libro es claramente explicado para personas nuevas que comienzan y seguro ni bien vaya avanzando, también lo harán los ejercicios y los ritmos que pueda probar e intercambiar.

But of course, adults like me learn from books and from having a reference person accompany us and explain to us the different ways of holding the mallet or the cymbal, and others like Fide, who with his young age, and his murga parents, he dares to do everything and tries to do everything, so another great inspiration is also him, and all the little ones of the murga, who without fear of what they will say, of shame or failure, they throw themselves into it.

Pero claro, los adultos como yo aprendemos de libros y de que nos acompañe un referente y nos explique las distintas maneras de sujetar el mazo o el platillo, y otros como Fide, que con su corta edad, y sus padres murgueros, él a todo se atreve y todo lo intenta hacer, asique otra inspiración grande es también él, y todos los peques de la murga, que sin miedo al qué dirán, a la vergüenza o al fracaso, se lanzan.
