The day I got a Venezuelan Cuatro

This was an interesting experience I just lived. It's not that I would ever want to feel it again because it wasn't very pleasant, but it all adds to the practice. The strong wind on the highway made me stop at one gas station and call my husband to hear him, to calm me down. I was a bit scared as the gusts of wind were shaking the car and there were branches and several road signs that fell on the road. At one point, when I was overtaking a truck, a gust of wind caught me and an alarm went off in my car. 😯 After this, I didn't bypass a single truck on the way home so that the same thing wouldn't happen to me again. Now, already at home, my husband told me that the orange wind gust alert is active.

We need to have experience and know how to drive in any weather conditions... This is where my husband has more experience, so when we travel somewhere together, he drives. Rain, fog, wind, sun or snow - he is not insecure like me. He was also quite comfortable with driving when we went to Madrid a few months ago; the sky was completely covered with clouds, and there were no signs that the sun would come out at all that day. But it was not bothering us.

We were heading to the capital of Spain to meet a few Hivers from Venezuela who had their tour with the choir here. As I knew in which hotel they were staying, we booked a room in the same hotel, but as a surprise. @jesuslnrs and @jhoxiris were waiting for us but they didn't know we would book at the same place. I told him that surprise in a message only when we were close to Madrid and he and his group were off to have lunch.

I think he was slightly shocked hahaha 😂

When we arrived and met, had a cup of coffee and a good chit-chat, I got a nice gift from them. A perfect souvenir a musician can get is something connected to music... they brought me a model of a national instrument from their country, a Venezuelan Cuatro.

Well, there are two in the photo - one was meant to be a gift to @palomap3. As they didn't manage to meet in Spain, I took that one too and later (much later, like a few months later, hahaha) I mailed it to her. That was the way how I packed it, protected and in a box so the gift arrived in her hands without any damage.

And what did happen to my Venezuelan Cuatro?

All this time, it patiently waited for its moment to appear on Hive. I promised it that I would present it as my new chosen instrument, like leaving the piano for a new musical instrument in the initiative I created a while ago for fun called It Can't Be True 😂. My own participation included the oboe and the violin and then I wanted to do it with this instrument too but well... at the moment this little guy just moved with us to our new home and now is coming here to TBT as a reminder of the day I got it from @jesuslnrs.

This Venezuelan cuarto does not seem small at all.
Kudos to them for being able to transport them in luggage, by plane without damage👏

Yeah, and they brought two of them to Europe, imagine how many hours they had to travel 😅

It was quite a challenge brother, and the reason why I didn't bring him a real instrument, but everything went well and he survived six previous Spanish cities 🤣

Transoceanic flight, who knows how many transits... You've saved her nicely👏

On a local flight, my suitcase was broken/torn two or three times, the wheels were torn off, the handle was bent.

It is so good the they could travel to meet you there , I love the instruments I think we have variation of that one that is the 3 but I don't know if it's cuban or international instrument but I now that it's very often used in folk parties in the country side , and I like it very much 😁😎

It seems that it is indeed a Cuban instrument. I have to confess that I haven't heard about it, but I checked it now. Here is some info about the Tres cubano ;)

The memory of that day is still here while the instrument is trying to find its place. At the moment it is changing the shelves but one day it will definitely settle down :D

Hello @mipiano , I am glad to see in your home a Venezuelan cuatro, this instrument produces beautiful music and adapts to all genres.
A nice gift between musicians, when I meet you in the near future, God willing, I know I can't bring you a cuatro, I will think what else I can give you.

What a beautiful four, quite an art, and well, driving like that in that climate must not be easy at all.

Yes :)) I also have maracas from Cuba, now this cuatro from Venezuela - it makes me think now that it would be cool to gather more national instruments from other countries too and make a little (or big) collection 😃

Nice gesture to you from our Venezuelan friends, it is very striking that cuatro. They sound very nice. We in Cuba have the tres. Those who play it get beautiful melodies out of them. I like the guitars very much. I see that you are excited to tell the story of that nice meeting with Venezuelan friends. Darling I wish you a happy weekend.🤗🥰

Yes, a very nice gesture from Jesús and his wife. I didn't expect any gift so it was an even greater surprise to receive it. Yesterday Pumarte mentioned that there is tres in Cuba, I wasn't aware of that. You do love guitar music, I remember 😇 Mychas gracias Mamani, un abrazo y feliz fin de semana, lleno de salud, alegría y bonitos momentos 🤗

Let's see if I can come up with something different and original in case we go to Argentina. We have two years with that plan, but the politics of both countries have made it a bit complicated...

Yes, at that moment I was in shock and when I reacted I jumped on one leg with emotion... You know that my plan was to bring you a real Cuatro, but for safety this option was better for now, since the poor cuatro would have had to travel from city to city to Madrid 😅 Meeting Spain was a great experience, but after all it was something I didn't imagine would happen until I heard about the trip, but meeting you and @ph1102 was a dream for me, and I still remember that when I had you in front of me I couldn't believe it. I hope life allows me to come back, bring you a kindness rock (although the ones here are deformed) 🤣 and even fulfill my new dream, to meet @palomap3 and @avdesing...

I appreciate and will keep that photo of both fours together, because I forgot to photograph them in the middle of so much work. Maybe I have them both in my old cell phone, but the phone I have now I used exclusively at the airport, starting the trip. Thank you girls for the affection in spite of the distance...
